My Aussie Acan Dominated Reef Tank

Very nice.

One suggestion: Putting the Scolys at the 'golden rule' spot where the tangs are in the first pic would add a nice focal point. At a distance, a lot of the Acans look pretty much the same, and this would help break things up.

awesome tank!! great look!!

coach----several ways to dip corals, i would recommend dipping an acan in a coral dip product such as revive by twolittlefishes. an iodine dip is typical for most corals but may be to harsh in some cases. hope this helps, good luck.

Wow that is an awesome tank. Any specs of your setup?

Tank size/dimensions?
What ballast are you using with the XM 20k?
What do you use for flow and filtration?

I love your tank! I've been subscribed to the Acan Land thread for quite some time now and I enjoy seeing all your pieces :) Beautiful tank all around!!

Wow! You pretty much have one of the the nicest tanks ive ever seen. Exactly what i was hoping to have one day! I unfortunately have problem with keeping my acans healthy. Some of my colonies are "Peeling" off of there skeletal structure and floating away?! They still look alive when this happens but soon die. Also, Some of my colonies have what i can only describe as a receeding tissue problem. Any ideas why this may be happening to me? I'm new to this forum and i figured id ask ya since you seem to be an acan expert by the looks of your tank!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone..

When acans start peeling they should be cut back from the dead tissue as well as dipped. I have only had a few colonies regrow over the dead tissue. Last resort run intercepter as it cured 2 of my scolys that were receeding.
