Thanks!

I am feeding them the juicy stuff off our homemade reef food. It has cyclopeeze, phytoplankton, plankton and what ever small particles of the other ingredients that got chopped itty bitty. Trying to feed them 3-4 times a day.

THey are too cute, I got so excited when I saw them my husband had to catch them lol.

You might have more luck feeding them live rotifers and tiger pods. At least that's what I've read on some of the breeding threads. Hope you have better luck next time.

I had read they would eat cyclopeeze too, that is why I wasn't worried about them.

They had a rough start. I just happened to find them swimming in my 220 gallon tank. 3 of them. I put them in a basket net thing i had and two escaped. The one left in the basket had a gimp fin. I found one of the escapees and put him and the handicapped one in a actual breeder net.

I think the breeder net might have been their downfall. :sad2:

As soon as i can i want to set up a 29 or so gallon and loop it into my big tank for water quality so they can have their own nursery. If i had more room i would go bigger because my pajama cardinals also regularly hold eggs.

I am assuming the rest of the babies got eaten by my orbital cardinal. He is big and unfriendly. He also looked rather plump that night and does tend to follow the male bangaii around.

I did notice something cool though, after the bangaiis started mating my female changed color, she has a gold tint now while the male remained silver. The male's jaw did change shape too, even when he is not holding eggs.

If everyone starts having babies i will have to start raising bbs or look into other options for fry food.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Adam and I mainly used cyclopeze, chopped brine/mysis soaked in selcon, also cultured brine fed with phyto. We didnt have much luck keeping them in a breeder net in the dt. So after a few failed batches we set up a 2g hex tank for the first month or so, then got them into a 10g I believe for growing. Out of the multiple batches we had born we were only able to successfully raise a few that made it to healthy size that could be put into the dt. good luck with future batches.
