My back in hobby build

wow, i'm sorry for your loss. Thats very unfortunate, it's never any easier to lose a fish.

How far apart did they die from one another? Not to discredit your theory but if they all died within a 48-72 hour time period from one another i would think something else killed them, and their lifeless bodies were drawn into the powerhead, i find it hard to imagine two healthy hippos (even if small) not being able to resist it. Did you find them all head on the pump, or did any of them have life left in them when found? Just my opinion but their cause of death could well be something different........just a thought.[/QUOTE]
Just confirmed that the blenny is alive. Guessing my wife didn't relay, he dad message to me very well and sayd.. You fish are dead.. They got sucked up. Insead of saying A. Fish is dead lol. However First hippo died last friday, crazy bugger would sleep literally next to it or on my overflow. Woke up one morning and saw him half way in the OF. He would only move when he saw the blenny. Other hippo died bwtween the wed night to thurs morning. Im on vacation, i left monday and tasked my father in law to feed tank. However nunnuts went to the house on wed and forgot to feed him. So he went yesterday, and found him in the mp. Thinking, he got hungry and was going arround the tank looking for some algae to eat. I mean not eating for 3days i doubt it killed him. He was alive wed my father in law says, and he ate Monday when i left. Thats a week apart. Can the water been bad, maybe. Can it have been something else? Probably who knows.. But water params were good when i left, as well as when first one kicked the bucket.
No way an mp10 killed those fish. Love the build so far!

Ty, thats what i thought too but, unless you have a theory lol idk what killed them and how the ended up in the same place :'(

If something is floating around, 2 places they end up are the overflow or a powerhead. I've had fish perch on my pm10 and be fine. No way a healthy fish, and I stress healthy, gets offed by a powerhead. Especially 3 of them. Sorry for your loss, but most likely it was disease related.

Ty. Its ok may they rest in fish heaven lol. Ill see what i get now

i strongly agree with rovster,

i have crabs that somehow climb the glass and sit on the mp10..
and they are fine..

honestly.. stop buying fish.. your tank CLEARLY is not cycled. i hate to be one of those guys saying this.. but your tank is not ready for fish.. i just hate to see fish die, just give your tank a solid month.

Hey guys sorry, i just go home got some pics in. Enjoy

these are about 2 month old . Sorry that I haven't taken pics , nor updated the thread. I have been waiting until thing grew a bit. Now everything is finally taking shape. :). I just purchased some siporax to add to the tank, since sooo many tanks are using it now with incredible success.

Ty guys. Im having now having an issue with my sps browning out. My po4 are a bit high at 0.12 on hanna, and No3 are .05 on salifert. I just started using MB7 to help out with this and added GAC and GFO . I dont quite understand how tanks out there have nutrient lvls way higher than that and corals look amazing. I have heard it could also be that my leds are set to high, is this is the case shouldnt bleaching be the symptom and not browning? ?. Yall are welcome to ad your theories lol

IMO its not so much the PO4 and NO3...as you say there are many with high PO4 and NO3 numbers with very beautiful SPS. I think its more to do with tank/filtration maturity and stability.

So sahin, what are your suggestions

The tank is still relatively new. About 7 months since rocks went into the display right?

So do the following for 3 months solid and see if it makes a difference:

1. Keep PARAMETERS STABLE. I mean ROCK SOLID. Test Alk every 2 days if you have to...Get it stable, as well as Ca and Mg.

2. Feed fish well.

3. Manage algae by using as many CUC crew as required; with a mixture of snails and Hermits etc.

4. Dont go overboard on GFO and GAC, but try to keep PO4 lower than 0.05ppm for the moment.

5. Dont move the corals too much, dont play with the rockwork and keep hands out of the tank.

6. Carry out weekly 10% water changes.

With the above and as the tank matures colours will return to the SPS corals.

There is something about a mature tank that is much more forgiving and with stable parameters can colour up SPS corals much easier. Some tanks get there faster than others. It took my tank well over a year to get to that point. My previous setup (same equipment/tank etc: I restarted) only took about 9 months to start pulling nice colours. Only difference is the liverocks.

You are also running LED's which IMHO makes it slightly harder to pull colours than T5 or MH. Not saying your lights are bad; however I would try and copy light profile which you KNOW is working well for someone else.

With T5's and MH its simply place over your tank and be done. With LED;s there are channels and intensity which brings in so many variables...

So just enjoy the tank for what it is now whilst doing the above, and in time you will see results. :)

Ty sahin I will do that. I checked my po4 this morning and they were at .02 so very nice . No3 was undetectable. Alk 8 calcium 420. I will try to maintain these levels and see were it goes. Lets pray lol
