My Bigger Piece of the Reef (LotsOPics)

I'm getting some brown algae... How concerned should I be?

Does it go away on it's own? Will the clean up crew take care of it? My phosphates are high. I'm running two phosban reactors. Will that help?

I got this bag of coraline scrapings from the LFS last night. I squished them real good until the water turned pink... thinking that there might be a lot of spores in it. Then I sprinkled the flakes around on the reef and release the water into the tank. I turned off the skimmer and closed loop for a couple hours to let them settle...

interesting idea. I don't see why that wouldn't work. Where did you get the coraline? Could have brought you a crapload on Sat. Are you going to the PSAS meeting?

I hope it does a good job of speeding up the process. I got it from the lfs on Northup in Bellevue... Where is the meeting? I'm not a memeber.

Thanks marineer.

Patience !

Give it a full 3 weeks before you put anything in there.

Do not get tempted !

Stay the course !

Skim, water change etc ...

It'll get worse before it gets better.

Yes it will go away on it's own. Can't help you with the phosphates or phosban...I just don't know.

My setup is based on the KISS principal. I don't have a lot of fancy stuff, skimmer, socks, liverock and calcium reactor.

I don't like messing with the backend, I just like looking through the front end.

I wouldn't think you would have PO4 already unless something in the system is leaching it or your tap water filtration is not working right.

Hey kannen its been a while since i read from the beginning of the thread but what did you use to put the rock all together?

I was talking about speeding up the process of growing coraline.

I used zip ties and spray foam. The pics and explanations on the rocks start around page 12.
