They hatched! I had 6 dead on the bottom this morning and 1 that failed to hatch. Pretty good I think. I took some pics before I wrapped the tank and added the phyto / rots. There should be about 365 I think. Hopefully this helps the mortality rate..
Thanks all. My numbers are getting bigger. I'm still getting large losses the first few days. I have only lost about 25 of these so far but I'll bet there's 100 more dead by morning. Lots of them just don't look active. I'm not sure what a good survival rate is. Or why I'm having large dieoffs initially.
This is a terific thread, and a great read. Thanks for all of the great updates and pictures.
Do you actually count 200-300 eggs or are you guestimating? That would drive me nuts after about 20, LOL.
I may have to get ahold of you once your initial fry are grown up enough. I's love to give my Perc a new buddy
Keep up the great work and thank your wife for not leaving you yet LOL
Thanks Voltekker. Thank you captainobvious. Yes I did count them. I used paint and just marked them as I counted. It wasn't that bad. Ya she's pretty understanding. I'll keep her for now. Thanks fshboy007
Thanks. I try and keep them pretty clean. I figure it helps the ammonia.. I lost 37 of the second batch last night due to low water level the sponge filter wasn't circulating and the oxygen depleted. I only have 6 left from that batch. Live and learn I guess.
I'm glad you like fazio / patrick. My youngest batch is doing quite well. I figure I'm down to about 250 maybe. Still pretty good. I'm crossing my fingers everything goes well. My Rots seem to have recovered and are producing well again <phew>. I don't know what to do with these 6 fish though. I'm keeping an entire tank going for them. Once they are big enough I'll probably try them in the big boy tank or I'll put them in with the younger ones once they are a few weeks old. We'll see.
Wow great job. I never new that clownfish layed eggs that often. I have a false percula and a true pefcula that seem to be getting along ok. Hopefully they'll lay eegs someday.
