10 is better than 0. I would keep checking your ammonia and watch them get fat on all those rots. Good luck !

yeah 10 is better than 0.

So far so good on the ammonia level i just hope it stays that way.
I don't know if it's the bacteria from the heater or the small additions of prime & cloram-x that i have been adding since day 1.
Think i am a little paranoid:uzi:

update for me: today was not a good day. I got home from work today to find that all of the 10 larvae are dead.

so let's recap;
larvae in tank - check
rotifers in larvae tank - check
ammonia level 0 - check
drink beer - check
add IA to feed rot's in tank - check
temp of tank 79 deg. - check
airstone in tank - check
drink a beer - check:beer:
clean out larvae tank - check
drink a beer - check:beer:
wonder what the hell i am doing wrong - check:rollface:

so from the list above i can only pick out one theme that i have no problem with doing correctly guess which one??

I'm glad the beer is working out

I can't recall, but have we discussed nutrition and feeding of the adults already?

Yeah it definitely helped out with the frustration of Friday's events:D

No we have not discussed the feeding & nutrition of the adults but here is what i have been feeding them:
(this is copied from my build thread as this is what i feed my whole tank): I use a homemade recipe similar to what i found on Melev's reef site. Everything is thrown into a blender and mixed together:

i used a 1/4 pound of the following: shrimp, scallops, halibut & calamari. I also used 12 cubes of the following: mysis, daphina, spirulina enriched brine shrimp. I also cut off a chunk of cyclopese, 2 tsp of oyster eggs, 1 sheet of nori & squirted in some garlic extreme.

The thought came to me while i had all of this stuff in the blender that if i used some extra eggcrate that i had laying around for the mixture that after it was frozen i could pop the pieces out and have nice consistent sized pieces for the tank. So i gave it a shot and it seemed to work out just fine.

Looks like a good mix, only thing I'd really consider adding is some Selcon. How often are you feeding, and how much?

BTW I like that eggcrate idea

Again thanks for the article on your site; i am still using the food from the first batch i made up.

Bill thanks; i do plan to make some changes on the next batch i make up. At the time when i made this one i did not have any selcon or phyto on hand, i plan on next time around adding the selcon to the mixture & replacing the ro/di water i used to get the consistency right with phyto instead.

As far as my feeding schedule for the reeftank it goes a little something like this:
I am lucky enough to live close by my office so i go home for lunch each day. I feed the tank usually twice a day:
I thaw out 2 cubes of the food mix in some tank water and smush them up into different size pieces;(the tunze's take care of the rest) this feeds everything in my tank; naso, clowns, anthias, chromis, etc.
Twice a week i let the cubes soak/thaw out in the container with some selcon added.

For the evening feeding i will either repeat the above or just use one cube of the homemade stuff & a cube of either mysis or daphina.

I now have also been feeding the tank bbs when i don't have any larvae, the anthias & chromis go crazy for it, but it ticks off my naso because he knows there is food in the water but he can't seem to find it, so he usually takes his aggression out on the clip of nori:D

The eggcrate worked out very nicely to make proportioned pieces of food.

Well, well more good news, bad news which seems to be a common theme with my attempts this far:)

the good news: brand new clutch of eggs laid last night,
the bad news she laid every single one of them around the base of the BTA rock, not a single one on the tile this time around not sure why; but i don't think my bta would appreciate being moved to a larvae tank so i guess more waiting for me.

I am thinking about it but i do not have a snagger made up so i would have to do that first; I have seen the one that you have posted in your thread the only thing i don't seem to understand is where to put the cutout for the larvae to enter the snagger; do you a picture of that?

Update time: Well since this time around my female decided to lay the eggs on a rock that is not removable due to my bta i have borrowed an idea from agsansoo's thread and have tried to make a larvae snagger to try and catch this next batch of fry. I still need to figure out how to attach it to my tank and where to cut the slot to gather the fry.
The box is 13"L x 8"w x 4"d.

I ended up using a 3" coupling & aquarium silicone to attach the pvc & coffee filter together

Current batch of eggs was laid on 7/17/08; so today is day 7 and there are a bunch of little silver eyes staring back at me:D

I have noticed with this clutch as well that the reduction of the number of eggs is very few since they were laid so i really think that those peppermint shrimp were part of the problem.
