My Breeding attempt - Perculas:

Gresham if you get a chance to swing by today after work that would be great i have a couple of questions for you

Ok another update post some good news & some not so good news, lol...... First things first a big thanks to my buddy Dean for coming over on friday & helping out with lowering the stand for the sump and helping me slide the whole system down a couple of feet, i decided it would be a good idea to hold the rack system out away from the wall so that i could still be able to access all the plumbing connections & bh's etc, etc, sure glad i did. Got the returns done for the top two tanks finally & decided to test everything with some fresh water, good news is nothing leaks Bad news is the tanks do not drain fast enough to prevent them from overflowing.

I have already emailed & talked a bit with gresham about the problem and it seems the issue might be with the bh being horizontal, still going to have to get the drain issue resolved, if anyone has any thoughts or ideas please feel free to chime in. Onto the pics:

(no i'm not a master plumber,:uzi: & yes i glued one ball valve backwards:spin2:)

Picked up (2) Ecoxotic 12.5" stunner 6 watt led strips with reflectors as you can see from the pictures i choose the combo light there are 18-8000k & 6-453nm blue led's i plan to use these above the first growout system & see how it works out; led light growout remember you saw it here first lol.

Yeah instead of using a 90's you should have used a T. I'd bet you've got some "vapor lock" (airlock) going on. The water exiting the 90 can effectively block the air from escaping and the volume of the air that is trapped is what is restricting the flow. Try drilling the 90's and shoving some 3/4" CPVC in there or 1/2" PVC. I may have some CPVC laying around, it's great for doing this kind of stuff with. At least it would show us if it would solve the issue or not.

I have some other ideas... lets take this to email so we can arrange to meet today or tomorrow.

Ahhh ok i think i understand what your saying about the vapor lock instead of drilling the 90's can i stuff some airline tubing down it to help the air possibly escape? I send you an e-mail as well, thanks.

Thanks Gresham for stopping by last night and giving me some ideas to work with. Looks like i'm going to have to re-do the drains. I plan on moving the bh's down & building a standard standpipe to fix the low flow issues that i have now.

ok update time again going to consider this as phase 1 lol; decided it was time to break down the 40g tank & move the GSM pair into their new home, this all happened on Saturday. Still need to go back and clean up some of the wires etc, etc, but at least this system is now up & running. I also got the drains lowered and re-plumbed for the other system but still need to check and see if the problem of the low/slow flow has been fixed i sure hope it has, Of course it started raining on Sunday so it's been cold around here, having an issue keeping the open top tank up in heat, picked up some glass pieces today that hopefully will help enough to keep everyone happy.

Video of the system running; so far the GSM & the black/white's seem to know each other are around but no issues yet; of course it's only been a day so far but hopefully all goes well:

Ok finally got some more updates to post as of Saturday raceway #1 is now online & running. I have had to build custom lids out of acrylic for all of the sections; count that as 9 total in order to keep the heat up to a reasonable level as it's been cold & raining around here; so far so good only one loss & that's because he got stuck in the mesh that i have had to use in order to keep the smaller ones from slipping through the flow through system. Couple of pictures to show what it's starting to look like, already so much easier at feeding time & in the process; I have broken down (1) 40g tank (2) 10g tanks & (3) 5g tanks

I have been following for a while now, and I have enjoyed seeing your progress and learning a along. Keep up the GREAT work and thanks for keeping up updated.

This is awesome.
I will be using this as a baseline when I complete my setup. I'm in the beginning stages of collecting the broodstock. So far I have an Onyx pair.
