My Chiller Setup **Lots of pictures**

I think this has been a wonderful thread. I would like to add that if anyone is interested I can supply them with a coil made of Titianium exactly as shown in one of the first pictures either in 3/8" or 1/2" outside diameter. The only drawback is you have to get your own fittings. The coil looks just like the picture shown (no ends). The price will be cheaper $210.00 plus shipping. If interested email me at rjn@jmzcomputer.com Thanks Rod Be sure to put Titanium coil in Topic in bold.

Thanks! Is this just the titanium coil or the whole PVC heat exchanger? Are the ends of the coil flared with nuts? How many winds does the coil have and how long is it? I guessing from your post that is it not flared and it's just the coil. The whole heat exchanger (shown in my first pic) with the coil inside costs only $250 complete (it used to be $198.00 back when I built my chiller). I'm sure it would end up costing too much money if you had to get your coil flared with fittings then buy the PVC and other fittings to complete the exchanger.

Did I miss the cost of the entire project?

If you end up doing the project and find an HVAC guy to help you out, please let me know as I haven't found anyone in the area that has been able and willing.

Cost of parts for me was roughly $500. This also depends on if your going to use your main pump or you buy a new one just for your chiller. Prices on the parts have gone up some since then but the labor is going to be the one that gets you if you can't do it yourself or you don't have a friend to help.

Even if you had to pay full price for everything including labor (maybe $1000), it's still worth it. These chillers are very efficient and will save you money in energy costs in no time. They pull less amps then a comparable one piece chiller and they do not run as long when cooling.

I built one of these chillers and it works great. We did have some trouble getting all the freon lines leak tight but its been running great for 3 months now. I was so glad to get rid of that drop in chiller that did little more than make noise and heat the house.

The AC guy that hooked mine up suggested it may have been easier to pipe the water lines outside than to bring the freon in and that way I could use ambient cooling in the winter. Its something to consider if you make one.

Can anyone furnish me with a phone number of web link to the wilson heat exchangers please , or know of a site that will ship them to the UK ?

cheers

Ok this thing sounds great but the pictures wont load on my computer. I have been searching every where for something like this and need those pictures ahhhhhhhhhhh.

tony has been kicked off reef central for personal and political reasons that is probably why the pics are gone. better luck next time maybe.

Reef Central should put the pics back because thay would help many who wish to build there own chiller at half the cost and better than you can buy. RGibson 30 years playing with water

So I guess I have a colectors edition. I really thought I had this thread saved to my hard drive some time ago, but, I do not.

I do have the 1st 35 pages printed out. Not that that helps much.

Is this thread "duplicated" to some degree on any other reef sites?

Tony could you give the address of SW-Wilson who made your titanium chiller coil he does not have a webb site. And tony is right buying chiller coil is the only way to go. RGibson
