Well, I have had my derasa clam for almost 6 weeks now. It has coloured up a little - especially the edge of the mantle which has turned a deep blue with irridescent green spots. It has also grown a little too.
The first picture is a closeup shot of the clam.
Here is a down view shot of the clam. There clam has a beautiful bronze sheen.
Very nice. You can also see the blue edge of the mantle and the green spots. Very nice.
Finaly a picture showing the growth as identified by the new shell growth with no coralline algae growing on.
I must say I am rather impressed with this clam. I always thought the usual Crocea and Maxima clams were beautiful alone. But the derasa clams are just as beautiful too.
I am dosing C-Balance on weekends and daily I dose kalkwasser (about 1Litre). Before I bought the clam I managed to maintain the Calcium level with C-Balance and water changes alone. However after having the clam for about 3 weeks I noticed the tank required more and more C-Balance so I went ahead and stated to dose Kalk.
