My disaster = I'm out

Haven't posted on here forever as things have been really good with my tank. That all changed at Christmas time. My 250 Deep Dimension decided to spring a leak out of the front seal. With 100 gallons in the sump I estimate around 200 gallons made it on to the floor, to my game room below, took down the ceiling, ruined the couch and carpet. I was able to move the livestock to another tank that had 75 gallons of NSW ready for a water change and then re-home them to a buddies tank.

Allstate insurance has been great and contemplated sending the tank to an engineer to prove a manufacturing defect and to go after Marineland. In the end the cost to transport the tank scared them off.

So if anyone out there is interested in a fairly big tank project and would attempt to re-seal it themselves I would sell the tank and stand for $500. The custom built stand is a work of art and extremely well built. It is white and pictures are available by email or text if you are interested.

I have to get the tank and stand out first as we are putting down new wood flooring and it is currently on the critical path. If someone buys the tank they will also get first crack at all the other equipment which is extensive.

So Sorry to hear Aaron - What a PITA. What type of tank. How long had you had it up? This is lousy- u didn't even do anything wrong. I have had spills due to ATO failing, etc. but so far no tank seals or glass fails. "Knock on wood". Stories like this make me nervous. Last years club president had a tank fail on him a few months ago. The tank manufacturer was on the hook for damage and a new tank.

It was a Marineland 250 Deep Dimension. Perfectly level. I purposely didn't use their stand as it didn't look like it was built to last or to support 2000 pounds of water. That voids their warranty. Thanks Marineland. Know that I've been researching a bit it seems like this is a common theme for this line of tanks.

Pretty sure Frank's (the pres) tank was a Marineland as well- maybe even the same tank. Are you sure about that voided warranty? Maybe Frank did use the Marineland stand as well, I am not sure.

Franks was a 200DD Marineland. It was on their stand. They simply cut him a big check. Another guy I know had a 150 go on him also on their stand. They also simply said ok and gave him a check. They even replaced all live stock and equipment that he had a receipt for. I have nothing against them, but I would not put their tank on anything but their stand so in the event they cover everything.
