My Eagle Eyes

I got a hold of a friend's D-SLR for a couple of days and I've been, of course, doing nothing but taking pictures of my tank. Snapped this one of my Eagle Eyes.

The lighting is bad...I missed the focus...but I think it's a decent shot either way.

They look really healthy. I like how there is a yellow ring forming on some of them. Here is a shot of mine.

Yeah, they've definitely started to morph a little bit under my lighting (175w, 14k Hamilton). I've got a few polyps in there that appear to be mostly green, so I may have a couple of bonus varieties in with the EEs.

Great photo, Pitcom! Now that I've found the head to my tripod, I'll be taking a couple of other shots (Unfortunately the macro capabilities of my friend's 18-55 lens is pretty limited.

 I havent gotten a tripod yet. I 've been using a chair with various sizes of boxez and books stacked on it. Check this out. That first eagle eye was in my nano under t5 lighting. This second shot is a different set of eagles i got that are under very high t5 lighting, the skirts have been turning green to yellow.

Great photo, either way! I got the tripod for my birthday, as I found that taking shots with any kind of clarity with my point and shoot was absolutely impossible. It just happens to have come in handy now when my friend is letting me borrow her Nikon D40x...hehe.

I think it's so cool how these things can morph and change under different conditions! I can't wait until my tank starts growing out more. Many of my corals have only been with me for a few months. The EEs are for sure the fastest growers I've got, I think. I saw new polyps within a couple of DAYS of getting them from another reefer...they seem to be super healthy.

Wait a minute , I am a little confused . They look very similar to the ones I have and I thought they were called watermelon zoas.

...I'm having a hard time telling the difference, to be honest...lol They look basically the same to me.

If you ask me they are the same just a different morph... The eagle eyes look like they have an orange center and the watermelons have a reddish center...

Same thing for zoanthids,Who cares what they are called they still look awesome!

I could probably submit a new ID for the ones with the yellow rings...didn't see any similar on ZoaID.

The yellow ring is pretty but i dont know if its a new zoo. They appear different in different tanks with different conditions. It looks to be a morph of EE, a very nice one!
