My family and I just got infected from palytoxin

Fyi this toxin can be removed eith activated carbon.. Studies have already shown this.

Do you have zoanthids ? I believe this toxin mainly comes from them but i heard dinos have it and some anemones

It's only palys the that are toxic, though some palys can be mistaken for zoas.

K should I run any additive to my water when I fill it up again after cleaning? Think I should have all the furniture cleaned?

Just finished up doing the bleach wash. I was constantly spraying it with 100 percent bleach. I ended up using about 2 litres, as I accisnelty dropped my full bottle into the water when it was a third full lol. Going to spray everything with a 1-1 ratio of vinegar and re fill for the night. We got ventaltion covered today

Side not, my silicone is flaking in the corners, should I just be getting a new tank either way? Here's a pic of the silicone

I also got one of my reactor running with carbon right now. Will flush again tomorrow but I'd think she's alright

No need to disinfect just a general airing out is fine, just enough to get fresh air in

Ok sweet. We've been airing it out for 36hrs bringing outside air in from the garage. At - 15c the house has been cold lol

Id reseal that tank just saying.. 100% bleach can actually hurt the silicone. thats why its recomended to do 10% bleach solution to disinfect.

With theh seals half gone like that though id just reseal it since its empty anyway... Black aqueon ailicone isnt much on amazon and its not hard to do... Ive resealed 4 tanks so far. including my 135 only took a few hours to do and a few days to cure
That's kinda what I was thinking. I want to to a coast to coast bean animal in this tank so I guess gives me a reason to bring it into the garage to reseal and drill, and if the drilling breaks the tank guess that solves the delima of getting a new tank lol

Drilling tanks is simple, just take your time with it. I've drilled over 50 tanks and sumps. Haven't broke one. Make sure you use water so it has lubricant.
