My female clownfish murdered my male - normal?

Ok here is my lesson on why not to take eggs out of take without knowing exactly what you are doing.

My clownfish have been laying eggs for about two months now so i decided to try and see if i could get any of the young to raise, did all the reading and whatnot; however, did not want to invest the time on rotifers so i figured i would just try c-pleze & BBS.

So anyways i took the tile out of the mother tank on the 8th night after they were laid (after the lights were out to reduce stress to parents), they hatched that night, had about 200-300 babies in the tank, neadless to say they didn't make it. They all last about 3 days but i'm guessing the inadequate food source was thier demize.

Now comes the real kicker, the murder////took the plate of the tank on a friday night, sat & sun all seemed well, sunday night i noticed the female laying against the glass and breathing very heavily, this is about the same time i realized the male wasn't around the spawn site so i'm starting to figure something isn't right. After looking around the 92GBF i see the male on it's side on the substrate across the tank, he was a goner. I pulled him out and it didn't look like he had any real major damage but his left fin was noticably pulled off the body area (kinda a small hole behind the fin).

Anyways I was just wondering if anyone has every heard of this happening to anyone else when they attempted to move babies or if the male just coincidenatly died. I'm guess the female was mad he didn't protect the eggs but who knows....

Moral of story: don't trust women, ever! haha, j/k.

Never heard of this happening myself...I probably would look for another cause if you didn't actually see the female attack the male.
