My first carpet

Have you bought a new tank for your anemome yet? I'm glad he made it, but you don't want to go through this all over again when he gets to big.

By chance are you feeding or are the clowns doing that? If it has come back and appears healthy again did you do anything to promote it's recovery?

Re: My first carpet

The carpet is doing really well. The mouth is closing pretty tight and I don't see any of it's belly anymore when it has it's tentacles fully open. I've only fed it once and it was last week. I kinda let itself acclimate slowly. I think water quality plays a major part in its acclimation. No3 is very low and Po4 is 0. I had a little bit of problem with salinity fluctuation due to miss calibrating my litermeter3 and refractometer last week. The carpet reacted to It, but nothing major. As far as right now, I think good lightning, good food and good water quality is the key.

You know that I've seen carpet anemones over 3 feet across while scuba diving. They get HUGE and need a lot of room. I wouldn't consider keeping one in anything less than a 12g (4x2x2) tank.

I think that 6 gallon is two small for 2 clowns too. I'm really glad the anemone looks like it is recovering and your already looking into bigger tank so that's good. What I would take from this is never buy anything the day or week it comes into the LFS. If you see something you want and the LFS is decent they will hold things for you. You could even offer to put a deposit down to keep it.

Best of luck.
