I know im late to the chalice game, I have been a long time SPS fan and so my tank reflects that and I fill in the gaps with Zoes. I didnt know much about chalice but I saw this at the LFS for a steal and had to jump on it $10. Yes I said $10. So I have it in a moderate flow about 20" under a 150w MH 15K bulb on the sand bed is this ok? Does this one have a name? It looks awesome under actinic LEd's but could not get a good pic. oh yea its a 34g Solana. Also do all chalice have feeder tentacles b/c this one doesnt or it hasnt put them out yet. I have a freind who feeds his shrimmp and stuff, what should I do to encourage feeding?

If you want it to eat, turn off all your flow and drop some mysis or something on top of the mouths. Wait a bit and they will eventually eat.

I tried something similar to that but I didnt turn off my flow. I used a turkey baster with mysis and fed like that . This is how I feed my favia and it eats well however my wrasse tends to steal anything not taken up quickly. Thanks for the reply.

Some chalices are very slow eaters. I have one that takes like 20-30 minutes to get a single mysis eaten. If you have lots of food thieves then you may want to try putting a bottle over the top while it eats. I have to do this when my serpent star decides to hang out nearby a slow eating chalice.

Anyways, that's a sweet chalice for ten bucks!
