I purchased a new 2" maxima clam, i sat him in the sand bed. My tank is 24" deep and i have 2 96watt pc's and 2 150w 14k blue life mh bulbs that all were just replaced. The most i seen him open was about 1/2" Thanks for any help you might have. Oh, and hes been in the tank for almost 2 weeks.

What are your fish and inverts?
What are your params?
What do you dose and how do you add it?
Can you post a pic?

Mike , return to the store so I can give you a clam dome devise I have developed to protect a new clam during its first days in a new aquarium.
This way you can cover the clam and keep fish from nipping at it.
If the clam opens while under the dome , then you know that something in your tank is bothering the clam when not protected by the dome.
You should have been given one for free at the time of purchase.

I would also like to add that I have heard that smaller clams in that 2" range may not have good success rates.
Also, what kind of lights was it under at the store?
