My first clam

An ORA green maxima. My photo is poor but this is what I have. I wanted him up on the rocks and I am trying to get him to attach to this shell. I have a 20 inch deep tank with 8 39 Watt T-5's with individual reflectors. Is this enough light for the sand bed or do I have to get him higher on the rocks. Thanks

nice clam, ant chance of a top down shot :)

your lighting will be fine but the clam may do better a little higher in the tank, maxima's love light too.

Thanks everyone, Here is another pic. I want to get him out of this basket but have to catch the LM blenny. He bit the mantle. I just installed 8 new lights to keep clams happy.

What type of T5 fixture do you have? Just about any of the units with individual reflectors should be OK, but all T5s are certainly not equal.

Life is much better for the clam. I caught the LMB. He is about 14 inches away from 8 39 Watt ATI, Giesmann, and KZ lamps with individual reflectors. I got him to attach to an old crocea shell in the tank

Actually, I meant what type of lighting fixture (Nova, Tek, Aquactinics, etc.), not what type of bulbs, but 8 bulbs of just about anything with individual reflectors should be plenty.

Lets see a few w/out flash clam wont react to light and actinics should so alittle.

Great lookin clam btw too. : )
