My first hammer fragged!!!

Hey guys,

I just thought I'd share with you guys here. I bought this as a single head frag from Marine Warehouse about 8 months ago and it now has about 7 heads. I thought long and hard about trying to frag it fearing killing it, but I decided to give it a try two days ago.

I am happy to report that the small frag you see in the center of the larger hammers is doing great and has healed correctly.

I know this is not a bit accomplishment for some of you who can do this in your sleep, but this is my first "Complex" frag. I have done many frags of GSP, Xenia, Kenya, Monti and other soft corals, but this is my first one of an LPS.

This has renewed my interest in hooking up my BioCube and start a frag tank. Thank you for all the knowledge sharing. More to come.

Congrats! What tools did you use to frag it? I attempted to frag a hammer and mine did not come out as I imagined. I used bone cutters and the skeleton just sort of split apart, not sure if my frag is going to last.

I used a Dremel rotary tool with a Cut-off wheel. I then prepared a bit of epoxy to stick it to a frag plug and left it on the sand bed for about 24 hours.

Don't forget to do this on a towel and use gloves and protective glasses. Bits of coral tent to fly out of the Dremel tool.

Also, cut as low as possible on the stalk.
