Thats what i did. I put the sand in first had a small bowel in there when i poured the water in. Its still super cloudy I guess ill give it another day or two.

I have a 28g led nano cube and when i filled it it did the exact same thing. No worries just let it settle. And i would replace the stock pumps with the two maxi jets you have. Thats what i did

Updates updates.....

So the tank cleared this morning, did exactly what john said with the filter floss. Went to my local pet store and was talking to the owner how I finally got this tank ect ect i think he was kinda mad i didnt get the tank from him haha. I was talking to him about needed some live rock since i just had 15 pounds of dry rock. Guy gave me 15 pounds of live rock for 12 bucks I guess to get me to come back and buy more. So the bad news......I go to put this damn rock in the tank and I have another damn sand storm. What the hell man I hope this doesnt happen every damn time i need to screw with the tank! Ill post pics of the rock as soon as the tank clears.

Some pics of the tank and new rock now that the sand storm is done. Also any one else have the jbj stand? Mine doesnt seem to be all that stable like it has a little wobble to it and i know its together tight. John I know you said you had issues with yours did you fix it?

Unfortunately with that sugar sand you'll get some cloudiness for a while (I have it in my 37 gallon tank) until it settles real good. Sorry to say but mine took several months. But on the bright side it was at least less each time.

I also have that little wobble. Mine is setting on carpet also which compounds the problem. I think the only way it can be fixed is to replace it, which I will eventually do. I have two dogs and three small grand children so mine is an accident just waiting to happen.

Yeah it's starting to look like the free stand wasn't worth it I just hope it can so-port the stand. I kinda wish I didn't go with sugar fine sand but I did mix it with bigger particles of sand though since I do plan on getting a jaw fish at some point. Thanks John about the rock work I'm not totally sold on it I keep trying to change it so I get a nice slope to it so any corals I put on it get a nice even amount of light. I just threw in a pice of raw shrimp from the super market (a nice pice for .44 cents haha) I think the live rock I got from the pet store had already been cycled. I'll post a new pic of the rock work but I'm pretty sure I'll change it tonight. Kinda disappoint I have no free hitch hikers off the rock here.

If you really feel that way about the sand then change it now. It will only cost about $20 and a few extra days to clear up again. Changing it once it's established and inhabited is a major PITA.

Free tip: a knee high will contain that shrimp when it starts to disintegrate and make clean up much easier.

I changed the rock work again last night I think I have it where I almost like it. Finally got a ammonia spike. So looks like things are finally on a roll here. The tank kinda smells now that it has a ammonia spike. I also put some extra think sand on top of the fine sand to help a little.

yea when it stops smelling like something died & more like the ocean, you're cycled. of course test for this don't just use smell as your guide

Ok so now ive run into a problem. The two stock return pumps are spitting a massive amount of micro bubbles into the tank. The water level is fine in thr return pump chambers. What could be going on?

+1, and make sure the water level is up at the divider between the pump chambers and the constant volume chambers.

In my gf's NC28 we took out the sponges, they kept falling and getting in the way, just fill the back chamber up, also def look into the intank media basket, we ordered one for my gf's tank with 2 1200's for returns, the tank has improved greatly

Took both sponges out the back pulled both pumps out and shook them to see if any thing was suck in or around them. Now there working better just cant get them back to were they were at the bottom. I dont know....i even changed the filter media

so I got to a min on the micro bubbles but still have them. Should I let the pumps keep going like do they need to be broken in? or should I put those sponges back in? Its almost like they burb this micro bubbles out every 30 seconds. Also it looks like im finally in a full cycle....

Got a pic of the back of your tank? Something is off here. IMO the sponges are needed to prevent bubbles if the water level drops, I still run mine after a year.

You might also the the 90 bends at the display return, if they are loose they can cause micro bubbles by drawing air in.

I put the sponges back and cut some new ones from filter pads ill put in lateer on down the line. Water level in the back for the pumps is more the half way full. Took some pics.

So some updates.... I just got back last night from the shore to visit family so I haven't really been by my tank at all this weekend. The Miri bubbles seem to be less then what they were before I left ( maybe my return pumps needed some breaking in?)
So this morning when I got up around 6 for work I went to check on my tank....and I have this shrimp looking thing in there. I'm hoping it's not a mantis cause it almost looked like it could be a baby one but at the same time it couldn't be. I tried to snap some photos of it but when I turned the room lights on it jetted back into the rocks. So I guess I'm doing something right if I can keep that alive lol.
So question my ammonia has already peeked and it's going down should I take the raw shrimp out the tank or should I leave it in there till every thing reads zero?
