My first macro tank from 2006

I was heavily into FW planted tanks but when I switched to SW I decided to see what I could learn about growing macros.

I chose this 37 tall tank with a 30 inch with a 2x 65 watt pc fixture, (2006).

1. the left side.
2. the foreground with shoal and paddle grass
3. the right side with big red grape macro. My clownfish was hosting in the red grape.

Very nice! Anything planned for 2016?

Yes I have a 55 tall that will house seahorses, macros and seagrasses. The tank is up and running but I am taking my time.

For five years I bred seahorses and had 21 tanks. After I burnt out in 2007 I have only 3 tanks SW left and only two clownfish and two FW tanks. I probably won't be breeding horses again but I want to have lots of macros.

Here is a 10 gallon tank from 2008. I tried to make it look like a FW planted tank. This one made some heads spin when I put it on one of the planted tank sites and didn't mention it was SW. :-)

Id say sw planted tanks are the most under rated tank in the aquarium hobby.

I always like a challenge and I did FW planted tanks for years, even before the hobby exploded, but I liked the idea of finding out on my own how to grow marcos and seagrasses. I did research of course but I always try to learn everything I can once I decide to make the jump into new phase of the hobby. I started with aquariums in 1958 and still going strong.

Here are some pix of my 30 cube macro tank from March 08.
