Just bought my first sps today. The lfs said that this is an easier sps . Is that true? What is the name of this coral? What are some easier sps?

Very nice Sps and no that's not easy Sps to keep. What I mean by that is that's a Sps that anyone geared to keep Sps can. If your not set up to keep Sps then that piece is not for you. However that's a stunning piece and is usually kept by Sps nuts like myself lol. Good luck with it as it's amazing
By the way looks like a tenius.

I have mostly anemones in my tank and they need very stable water too and I thought sps need stable water parameters. That's why I took a try. Do you know some easy sps?

May want to get another opinion, but a tank full of nems is not the best home for SPS. If they move they may decide to take a short cut through the sps. Stinging them as the pass through. Killing the sps. : O

I say give it a try and see what happens. I agree and disagree with a nem tank being a bad place. I wish you the best of luck with it as its a gorgeous piece!

I have carpet anemone that like to bury it foot in the sand bed . It will not climb up the rocks .

Do you know what coral this is? And is it easy care sps? Do you know some easy care sps? I placed it at a high flow spot and on top of the tank. Would that be ok?

Lots a flow and good lighting will help out. Since this is ur first SPS water is not extremely critical. Keep ur phosphate fairly low .02 or so. Critical factors are calcium, alkalinity, magnesium. Just want to make sure they are in check. Granted you won't need to do any dosing. Just good scheduled water changes will do good for you.

I'm not sure why no one's chiming in on your question. Typical first sps for people are things like birdsnest coral or maybe a purple stylophora. I've also had a fair amount of luck with several colors of digitata. Those all seem to grow fairly quickly and are a little harder to kill than the more full blow sps acro's and such. I have several anemone's in my tank and (knock on wood) haven't had a problem so far in 1 year. I have a HUGE LTA anemone and 4 rbta's. I did have to move a coral once as the LTA was getting huge and starting to sting the coral.

Calcium 470
Alk 8,5
Magnesium 1320

They are always stable and no swing. I already place it at a lot of flow spot and I have the same light as the lfs is using for his sps tank. But I want to know the name of this coral.

Its an acropora. And no they arent easy to keep. Birdsnest and montipora are the easy ones. But acropora are very difficult.

I also dont recommend SPS and anemones in a tank unless its large enough.

My fastest growing SPS are my Seriatoporas and Montiporas. Some species of Acropora can be easier to maintain than others and have quite different growth patterns. For example, I have an Acropora Yongei that grows pretty fast as well, no where near the Montipora or Seriatoporas level but it still has at least doubled in size in the time I've had it. Whereas another Acropora I've had for the same amount of time grows painfully slow and has maybe gone from 1" to 1.25" or so.

I finally know what the name of this coral . It is "Miami Orchid Staghorn" .

It's a gorgeous first piece! Can't Wait to see it a year from now. What is the name of the light your running? Your peramiters seem great!
