My fish needed a longer tank - all 130" of it - the build

For the last 3 years I have had a 380g FOWLR built into the wall. It is an 8 foot tank. Over the years my fish have grown tremendously so I saw a good opportunity to get a longer tank for the benefit of my fish and took ahold of it. I started the new year out assembling my new 130" (nearly 11 foot) glasscages tank that I purchased on RC from Tattooreef. I am posting build pictures as I assemble it.

Wheeled dollies making the job easy!

The big lift. That's me on the far left and my step father and brother on the other end. Yes, it was heavy but I do powerlifting and routinely deadline 600+ pounds so this wasn't bad.

and here is where I stop at tonight. I have it running with freshwater/vinegar together because there is still alot of corraline algae to scrape off.

My fish are mostly tangs, angels and a few triggers. I'll post up more pics of the inhabitants tomorrow.

Some of the other fun stuff that I don't have pictures of is me going under my house and building several small block piers to support the weight of the tank. It is on a weight bearing wall but I would rather be safe than sorry.

No the 380 is going to be taken out and sold. I'll be installing a fireplace and a large plasma TV where it is now. This will last me a few years till the next upgrade. I will be keeping the 150g in the wall next to the new tank. You can see it in some of the pics above. Not sure what I'll put in it. It will be plumbed into the big tank eventually.

Wow! Congrats!

This was a great tank when Tattooreef had it, sounds like it'll be a great tank again!

i like all the flow you are adding for the fish. are you going to have a sand bed? what other equipment are you going to have, skimmer, sump or filters ???

i'll be tagging along :)
