Just the other day my huge GBTA Split! WOOHO!! Thing was atleast 12'' to 15'' wide when fully expanded! Do i need to add any medications to help with the healing or should i just leave it alone?

Since i dont have a tank right now and a friend of mine has been caring for it in his for the past couple months thought id let him keep the other half.

i would ask robin (fingerwrinkles) he will know what to do. i thought it needs some time to heal but not sure. ask robin. good luck with it.

Leave it alone.

The anemone will heal on it's own, it just looks horrible for the first few days.

Yup leave it alone. Don't feed it until it has a full mouth :) .. LMK if you want to sell it :D ..

Since it appears to have been in a very healthy state before the split, this presumably was not a stress / survival driven event. As the other folks have noted, keep the environment constant and don't feed it directly for a week or so until it appears that the split portion has healed up. After that you can resume the regular feeding routine and when the anemone is ready it will start ingesting again.

Congrats!!!

Good to hear that rommel.. my RBTA just split again... 3rd time now... very beautiful color as well...

I feed mine jumbo krill 3-4 times a week... they eat like pigs and grown to insane sizes if fed a lot.. the mother bta is the size of a full dinner plate or bigger when fully open.

Thanks for the replies everybody!

Wow! 3rd time?!? congrat to that aswell! how often do they split? ive had mine for over a year and it just split now! when i had it in my tank i had the same feeding schedule as you but i fed silversides. when i first got it, it was about a 5 to 6 inch diameter and the growths from then is just incredible!

Speaking of which Tom - I literally just picked it up today. It's real nice and healthy, it just needs to find the right spot now (hoping not next to th clams or sps either).

Eileen, they do LOVE to move. Even though they've been at a certain spot for long period and been fed on schedule, there are time they just feel like moving...

Now mine has moved during the split under a bunch of SPS and Large monti cap... DANG IT....

Rommel, Have you tried JUMBO KRILL, all the previous RBTA's I've had which ALL SPLIT loved that stuff... prior to splitting I used to feed them 2 per day.. over a course of a couple weeks then do a big water change... then next thing you know... bang a new clone...

Never tried jumbo krill, although on ocasion i would feed it the hikari krill......im gonna have to try yoru method when i get it back. would love to get it to split again. is there only a certain one that splits from the 2 or would either one split again in the future?

Well when I had a couple of them, even the clone split... now the other one that I had that came with it when my buddy gave it to me has now split.. it would grow to over the size of a dinner plate... it has litterally killed a bunch of SPS's and stung a bunch of zoo's almost to death...

welps got to go sleep, need to wake up at 5 to be at work by 6.
talk to you tommorow.
