sooo I built this tank a couple months back and has had the cured timora from premium aquatics in it for 2 months.
I hated the substrate ALOT so I switched it out for black, BELLISIMA! I have been wondering what to do with this tank for a while. Nothing is in it besides some zoas from my tank at home just to put the water to the test up and above the weekly chemical tests. I didnt want a clown goby nor just corals. I was then thinking about polling it but manned up and made a desicion.
sooooo I read Lakshwadeeps link to harlequin shrimp, which is great by the way.: The Care & Breeding of Harlequin Shrimp
sorry, busted camera phone and the bubbles are from right when I changed it over.
I'm gonna take that bottom part off with a dremel to makeshift a better cave to watch them from (hoping they will take to it).
And the pair are in my 14 at home waiting to be introduced. I just have been too busy to do this safely and the right way.
female
male
soo, I have a steady supply of chocolates for 8 bucks a piece. What do you think about a back up dinner living in that viewable refugium? too small? 6" x 5" x 10"
Do you think them being able to see their next starfish will skew their eating habits? molting patterns?
here is a pic of them together...with the interracial couple in the back. hahaha they are so funny together.
ok...since they have become familiar with their temporary home and havent eaten and the one molted, I thought some food might be good.
As soon as the starfish hit the ground the one pounced.
OK, sooo here is the concern!
I thought the one was female because she was considerably larger, but I still hadnt gotten a good look under their abdomens. Neither seem to have the blue spots that the females show, but they came in as a pair to the store.
Anyways, during that last picture they began to fight on the starfish. Holding eachother and they kinda of pushing and striking. The one acted as if he had been beaten and retreated off the starfish and retired to the sandbed. It has remained their since, just watching the other still ride the starfish trying to take it down.
I hope this doesnt last and is just a practice of establishing dominance or responsibilities.
