My LED Experiment, a work in progress

So being a dabbler of sort in all things SPS related, here are some growth shots of a some frags that I added a couple of months ago. Wish I had taken proper pics when I added them right in the begining. Lighting overhead it an Orphek PR156 unit, with lenses removed. Will take pics every two months.
Need to get the pics in the right focus distance though.

All pics below are exactly two months apart, some serious color changes as well

Wow, with those type of color changes do you suspect that the lighting is too intense?

I have recently changed over to radion led's and noticed that some of my sps corals have done the same thing, they sort of bleach but the new growth have a different color. One in particular is the tri-color valida.

If they keep looking better with each photo shoot good on ya! Looking great so far!

I did have the same color changes with my LED. Did you notice slower growth compared to MH? Most of my SPS have slower growth, except for a few.

they look stressed out to me. I think they are getting too much light. the hoki has lost all of its famous green ring and the tenius has no polyp extension. the colors are too pastel...thats my opinion.

I will shift the unit higher up to see the difference. They currently 40cm from the waters surface.

As this is a sunlit tank as well, PAR levels I've measured here can touch 800+ on a clear sunny day....we in winter this side, so it's lower now

Understand that people have been trying to match their LED's output with other PAR readings of halides and T5's only to find out that they need to dial back the LED's because the light is too intense.

So you may need to dial yours back as well.
