My Leemar 90 Build.

Mike,

Do you think I can use the BRS stuff in a 2 little fishies reactor?

21.99 is a good deal and one pound will last a while....

How do you know when to change the media?

Mike, I read the thread.... I see that you and others were advising change the GFO weekly.....

I am going to try that....

By the way, the 2 little fishies reactors run at 20 -30 gph for the 150 and 30 - 40 gph for the 500. That is only .67 GPH an hour.... this is good. I am going to gravity feed this as well.... with my 3rd valve.

I'm a big fan of the two little fishies reactor. I've had one for about 4 years and never had a problem with it. I changed the o-rings one time not becaue it leaked but because I had some laying around.

When I use GFO, I would change it out at least every 3 months if not sooner. I would watch the tank more than trust the readings on my PO4 test. As soon as I see some sort of algae, I would usually change the GFO.

UPDATE!
Algea is still going nuts, but, I do see progress.

Added a GFO reactor on Sunday. I hope it works.
Added a Pencil Urchin.... It is awesome and it eats alot.... I will pass him on to the next reefer when I am done....

Added a Vlamingi for a while.... I love his personality and he eats algea like he is a vegetarian..... I know, they get big.... My wife really liked him and he really is a curious, calm, fish.

I will send him on to the next reefer with a big tank when he gets about 7-8 inches.... I hope I get to keep him for at least six months.

I have a purple tang from kikireef that it is time to move.... I can't catch him in my 29 gallon tank.... he is crafty. A REAL GOOD EATER! flake, pellet, brine, mysis, squid, and algea. I think he will chow the algea.... I will move him on Saturday.

Last, but not least, Ev'e gave me a nice bunch of Cheato..... or, is Chaeto? Anyway shout out to Ev'e.

He got a cool 225 (Jealous)

Ev'e you can use my welder!

The tank is clear... but, not crystal clear yet.....

It is definately not picture ready yet.

Oh, by the way.....

I built the stand cover..... It looks real nice.... Stain next.

Doors - I have the rails and stiles cut, now I need to route them.... I think I am going to do flat panels with the outside done in black PLAM.

Pics will come later......

Glad to see that Purple Tang is making its way from one good reefer to another. I actually won that guy at SCMAS about a year ago and Keith and I made a trade for it.

Keep the updates coming Randy! Any pics of the Vlamingi? I won't call the tang police don't worry haha

Cody,
That Purple Tang is one of the nicest I have ever seen. Flawless. I will take a pic of the vlamingi tonight.

It actually let me pet it's head and face last night.

I am used to my Koi letting me pick them up and stuff and this Vlamingi just comes right up and is very curious. I want it to start eating from my hands. That always makes for a fun display.

I hope they get along well. I think they will because they are different shapes.

I like that pond....getting me thinking about doing one.....lets see some more pics of that tank....is it getting any better with the algae problem

Awesome!

I've seen a few vlamingi's in various tanks get quite friendly.

I have a foxface rabbitfish that eats right out of my hand but it makes me nervous. Hasn't come close to poking me but you never know...

Big Daddy,

The pics of the tank will happen this Saturday.... The algea is subsiding, But I had a lot of it!

Ev'e,
Cool, if the welder falls through let me know. I got you on that one. By the way, yes, I was jealous of both tanks. The clarity in the 150 was top notch.... Keith is gonna like it.

Cody,

I imagine that would be nerve racking with the foxface..... used to have a huge lion that ate from my fingertips..... But I kept them just at the surface of the water.... He got huge.... Then I didn't feed him like that anymore! Long story short, when I got divorced, my ex wife wasn't paying attention and actually got spiked by the lion..... Ouch... Her arm swelled up and turned black.... I felt bad and had to go get him out of the tank. Lesson Learned.

Question... I don't see a blade on the Vlamingi.... do they have one?

your tank looks awesome! I love the setup in the sump area, nice and neat.
picture update please!
did you do any waterchange yet? it might be helpful fighting the nutrient build in the water column

Rob,

Thanks, The Backyard is still aways from being done.... I still need to build one fence, the outdoor kitchen, and, if I play my cards right.... One more big pond......

Craftyfish,

I will be taking pictures this weekend.... The algea is on the down side..... I have done one water change and I started GFO as well as an urchin....

The water clarity is almost where I want it.....

Time to start moving stuff over!

Good to see things are moving along... it's been a while since I've checked in, and I'm looking forward to see the pics this weekend.

-Chad
