My lights to much?

I switched out my 250 watt de pendents about a month ago to 400 watt SE pendents, and now I'm noticing montis starting to turn white. My millis and acros are still doing great though, acually prolly better color then before.

Is this from the lights or should I start looking other places?

I would think it would be bleaching from the lights. They were doing fine before right? I would also look into monti eating nudis.

it didnt look like nudis, I would move the montis down or raise your lights.

TJ, referencing your issues, its sounds like your monti's are reacting to the light. IME, monti's have a much lower light requirement than acros or milli's. However, they should adapt over time.

My Monti's are very different looking depending on the height they are in the tank. They are def. lighter in color up higher (watermelon sort of red) and deeper red down lower.

Mark, you can add screens ( or egg crate) over the effected areas and then remove them one at a time, every week or so, allowing the corals time to adjust. This will tell you if it is the lights.

Or you can shorten the time the lights are on, might be easier to do

Don't think the duration of light is affecting them as much as the intensity. I agree, move them to deeper waters or raise your lights.
