Hey Gavin, on goniopora.org the site mentions that gonis whose polyps aren't extended very far could mean its starving.

Take a look at the site, do you target feed any of your gonis?

Thanks for that Mike - the two Gonis only went into my reef on Saturday :) I have target fed both of them with red rotifers and cyclopeeze 2 or 3 times since. Fingers crossed that it's just a short tentacled version rather than starving.

Does the flame nip at the open brains?? My coral beauty nips religiously and I had to move my brain to another tank.

Have you considered supplementing iron to see if that helps perk up the goni's?? ...referring to Julian Sprung's theory/research presented here: http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/dec2002/invert.htm

Nice looking tank BTW! My reef is slowly getting there, but yours is somewhat in the direction I'm going. Keep up the nice work.

Thanks for that. The Flame very occasionally has a little nip doesn't appear to damage the Trachy's though. My eyes are on him though!!

As for the Goni's, well they both seem to be settling in nicely. the red is fully open every day while the blue continues to open more each day. I don't dose Iron.
