I just picked up a new LTA that is about 8" across. He's a gray/brown color with long tentacles that have an electric green tinge. As soon as he was aclimated, I placed him on the sandbed and he immediatly dug in tight. He seems very healthy and has eaten twice this week (piece of shrimp). He has so many tentacles that I wasn't able to see the oral disk, until today, when I realized he has two oral disks. Is this common in LTA's. Can anyone tell me anything about this? I have another 20" LTA, but have never seen this in these anemones.

You cut a M. doreensis in two, you have two halves of a dead M. doreensis. I think you were joking, but just in case you weren't...
Yes, two mouths does not equate to a splitting anemone. Many people erroneously believe that all anemones can be successfully split and that all anemones asexually reproduce. My guess is that AndroidReef is under the assumption that M. doreensis can be successfully fragged, which is not the case with this species.

Well, if it splits by itself it will be a world first. M. doreensis does not asexually reproduce. I think it is just as likely that my dog will split by itself
