My Maroon's Finally Laied Eggs

So Not Sure what i can do i was planing on trying to raise the fhry but im not sure were to start i have been waiting for about 2 month and finally it happen . tthe thing is they have laied the Eggs on the back glass is there a way i can transfer the fry to the fry tank what do i need to raise them any help would be great . well here are some pictures .

Nice maroons, and congrats on the first clutch of eggs!
How old is the pair? I've had a pair of maroons for about a year but I have no idea when they will be ready to breed.

Well i have had the male for a year and the Female for about 4 month. It was like love at first sight the Female is about 4 1/2 to 5 inch the male is about 2 1/2 inch. How many days befor they hatch and how can i get them out of the tank once they hatch?
 
Well woke up Today and thing look great . Daddy Maroon is doing a wonderful job of fanning the eggs and mommy as well but she is also keeping the other tank mates away . This is really cool to watch .
 
That is cool. If I were you I wouldn't try to raise these, the first couple of batches don't seem to be all that healthy normally. Also, this will give you some time to read up on how to set up to raise them. They should regularly spawn now so you shouldn't have to wait long for the next batch.

Ok gang i have made my mind up i am not going to try and raise the first batch of eggs im going to hold off till i start Culturing Live Rotifers i have . I have order my live Rotifer just waiting for me to get it .
 
gsm are very cool. they lay the biggest nests i ever seen. hehe mine is laying about 1200 eggs and the nest is bigger than a silver dollar. and my girl is a machine and the nest is nice and tight.
also let the first 5 or so nests go. the fry you get from them wont be good cause the parents are not good at laying yet. rule of thumb is wait for 5 or more batches.
all depends on what temp your tank is at. the eggs are smaller than most clowns and only need 6 days till hatch in water aroun 80 to 81f. if its hotter then they wll hatch in 5 days. when you buy the rots make sure you get the L type cause they are smaller larvae than most clowns.
good luck! google a larvae catcher and you'll see some designs or even one to buy to scoop out the babies after they hatch. and they hatch after lights out too. like an hour or 2 after they go out.

Thank you so much for that link I am going to try and raise the seconded Batch . So I plan on putting a tile in the tank . Should I put it where they laid the eggs this time ????? its kind of a tricky spot on the glass . This is what I did I got a tile and 2 pieces of a magnet glued one to the tile and the seconded one will be for the outside of the tank to hold it in its spot should this be ok . Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thank you
 
thats a great idea. put the tile on the spot where they are currently laying. make sure the tile's back is facing the clowns. the porcelain is too smooth for the eggs to attach.

it will **** the clowns off that there is a tile in their spot and they might miss a lay or 2 cause of the change, but they will eventually except it.
also make 2 sets of those tiles. when you pull 1 to hatch in a fry tank an then add the 2nd when you pull the tile so they have it in there tank at all times. its easier to make a removeable tile to hatch off in a different tank then it is to capture them in the tank.

also try to feed the clowns more since they are breeding. i feed mine 5 to 6 times a day. they need alot of protein and fats to produce larger and larger nests. veggies is important to.
i would wait a lay or 2 more till you try to collect. alot wont be viable cause the male is still getting used to fertilizing the eggs. soon you will have gsm coming out of your ears. hehe

also on reeds mariculture get their otohime start kit for like $50. this is used like 5 to 6 days post hatch. its better than using bbs. one less thing to culture.

I understand where you are coming from about the tile but they lay their eggs on the glass and that is smooth . will this not work if I have to smooth side up ?
