My tank has reached bioload carrying capacity. If a colony gets bigger, another one shrinks. As I don't want to resort to getting a larger tank, I am considering a larger sump with more LR.

Thoughts?
 
WOW very nice! I think we need some more closeups too!

How about some tank specs too? and how old is the tank?

Then tank is about 1 1/2 years old almost to the day. When I started, it looked like this:

For about the first eight months, the tank was in 'flux' adding new corals, having some things die on me, but after a while, the tank reaches balance and you develop good habits (like water changes once a week) and things start to thrive. I believe the key is constancy.

I have some closeups, but I DEFINITELY will need to take more. Unfortunately, some of the really nice corals are at the bottom of the tank - hidden by the coraline and I'm terrible with underwater photography.

What size tank is that? What kind of light are you running?

Are the rics and zoos both growing on the sand or are they all attached to rocks along the bottom?

Do you feed you tank? if so what. Tank really looks great.

It is a 24 gallon long tank (36") because I like to maximize the viewing area. It's also easier to light up. I'm using a Coralife dual 96W setup. Instead of the usual coralife bulbs though, I have one 50/50 Sunpack bulb (I like it better than Coralife's - more white) and a coralife pure actinic.

The zoas and rics are attached to rock rubble (about 1" frags) at the bottom of the tank consisting mostly of tonga and some fiji frags.

I feed my tank fish (a remarkably well-behaved Bicolor Angel, a false perc and a firefish) flake food from Spectrum and ocassionally frozen copepods and frozen mysis, but these are often few and far between. The corals receive no special attention or feedings.
 
WOW you do have an amazing tank wow alot of color and well god all does zoas and rics my favorite combo i think those are the best kind of corals out there :lol: anyways more closeup of everywere :D...

P.S: just curiosity why you dont scrape the coraline from the front glass to improve the view??? just wondering ?? o you like it that way dont get me wrong it looks great!!

I DO try to scrape it, but it's hard to do that effectively where there are corals growing. Some places I just can't easily get to.

Since everything's kinda grown together, it's hard to 'frag' a piece of coral. However, I've had luck placing a little bit of rubble on top of some of the colonies and then having the mat spread to cover it up.
 
I like the tank. It's colorful and full.

I wish I could do the same... it takes a while for zoo frags to cover an entire rock :)
