My Nanostream 6025 Review and Pics

i was wondering the same thing. i don't think it was discussed, but maybe I missed it.
One of my 6025 pumps has started making noise after being in use for about two months. The noise is caused by the propeller banging around in the housing.
I took it apart and cleaned it. The propeller magnet is quite loose in the pump housing, and the shaft allows everything to move within the housing. The pump was quiet for two days, but now the noise is back.
Does anyone know of a fix?

im still dissapointed my humming noise never went away
its still a loud hum that can be heard outside my room down the hall maybe 15-20 feet or more away

got mine today...lots of flow!!!!...maybe too much for my tank. no noise to speak of.....little on start up and just barely a hum but not noisier than my skimmer for sure.
I have two of the 6025's, mostly for flow down low along the bottom of the tank in a BB tank. They are great but I am disappointed that one of the two rattles like crazy. It makes the loudest vibrations and rattle. I just installed this second one a few hours ago. I have tried different placement but I have not pulled it out and taken it apart, I'll see if that helps. I have shut it down at this point because I can't stand the noise. The other one is silent, running for two days thus far. Off to see what I can do.
What do you think of this idea...I am contemplating swapping out my 6000 Tunze Streams for the 6055's main flow in my 70g tank...cut the size of the powerheads in my smallish tank by 1/2 and I won't lose all that much flow with my controller. I think the 6055's will look a lot better in my tank than the Streams. My only concern is the size of the output opening. It is much smaller on the nanos than on the Streams. Not sure if that will make a huge difference.

it has a nice flow pattern. I had the 6000 and although it does have a larger footprint the 6045's output is very nice and wide. Excellent little pump. I did the same thing with my 6000s because they were just too big and powerful in my 75, but my tank isnt BB. I would think that the 55's would be great for a 70g...if you dont think theres enough flow you can get 3 pumps and put one on the back glass. Ask roger what he thinks.
Okay, interesting development tonight with the rattler nanostream. I took it apart and put it back together and placed back in the tank, still rattled but a little less. I went out to a birthday party and returned a bit ago. I looked at the rattler nanostream and noticed stuff in the ball part where the intake grates are...stuff as in snail shells, a few small pebbles, even an old tiny sps frag...but no rattle. Hmmmmm, I sat there and stared at it. Then I notice no flow coming out the front of the nanostreamt, the flow is coming out the intakes, It is in reverse pattern and had sucked all that stuff into the mechanism. So I unplugged it, pulled it out and opened it up. Inside I found the impellar blades loose in the ball along with the treasure trove of junk. I dump it all out, snap the impellar blades back on as they appeared to be fine and undamaged, I guess. I plugged it back in and it is flowing in the right direction, just like before. I had the first one start out in the reverse flow pattern for minute and then it righted intself. This one was always flowing in the right direction, I guess sometime during the evening it reversed flow and sucked stuff into it which must have popped the blades of the impellar shaft. What a pain. But it seems to be working now and appears to be quite silent, no more rattle. We'll see what the morning brings for me. Meanwhile the other one is working flawlessly and has been for three days.
stevedola, thanks for your input. I currently have the 2 6000's and now the 2 6025's running in the tank, so 4 all together. I think with this addition of the 6025's there is probably plenty of flow if I drop the 6000's and replace with the 6055's. I think I will go for it in a few months if these 6025's hold together and don't do weird things like what happened tonight. My 6000's have always worked like a charm. I'd hate to get rid of them for the 6055's and have trouble. We shall see.

slojmn, was the metal shaft/spindle loose? Could you remove it, or was it still glued/imbedded in the pump? If it was loose, you need to epoxy the spindle into place, then reinsert the propeller magnet.
