my new 120 rr

Those child-protective locks might work well, if you can get the spacing right.....I also think you would need a rail of some kind to keep the bottom in place.

Does anyone know exactly how the wand locks and unlocks this thing?

The child locks more or less have a small bar the you attatch inside the cabinet. Then on the door you attatch the hook in the picture in the link, the hook is spring loaded to stay in the locked postion which clasp to the bar you installed inside the cabinet.
The magnet "key" is a fairly strong magnet that actually over comes the spring allowing the hook to let go of the bar.

I don't think the plastic piece on the outside of the caninet where the key goes to open the lock is needed, I think it is just a guide, but I am not certain about that.

I think if you have a large panel you would need several of these latches to make them work.

Personally I would probablly use magnets all the way around, and then add the security latches in the four corners to prevent the children from pulling the panel off on accident.

Another option, and I think what MThompson had in mind, would to make a hook and groove type set up along the bottom, and put these clasp at the top, so you "unlock" the top, and then have to lean it back and up to disconnect the bottom.

That's what I was picturing in my head....but I realized that you need to 'unlock' all the child-locks at one time (i.e.- have one 'key' per lock, and put them all on their corresponding 'lock' in order for it to detach).

Perhaps, a rudimentary hook and grove and just the magnet/plates across the top (if you don't need security)....but for those with little ones (or smart dogs that love fish flakes and can open up any cupboard door - in my case), then place a magnet-lock in the top two corners and a magnet/plate in the middle.

I also just realized that we really jacked this thread up! Sorry Nova.....the set-up looks great. Can't wait 'til the plumbing and hardware start going in!

You haven't posted any photos in a couple days. Anxiously awaiting photos! I think this thread is a great thread for a DIY tank stand build and tank setup. RC members can benefit from this, a lot, since it shows the entire process. I love the design of the stand. I think that was very innovative.

the main frame i got from the diy forum and the side cubby for my chiller i added on.if you want to copy it go right ahead.but you have share pics of it

You might want to talk to Josh :D ,he picked up some really nice brand new electronic ballast online somewhere, he put them on the three SE 250s on the big tank, and WOW! huge increase in lighting, but he pretty much went from really crappy ballast, to really good ballast.

MarineDepot has the Lumatek ballasts i just picked up. after 4 days, im very happy. 100$ea. according to some i've talked to, the output and power consumption is comparable/ better than icecap.
Sweet build too!

You changed my original post, I was like, did I say Josh? I could have sworn i said Matt....

But Matt bought the same ballast as you did, but he got them first so neener neener! just kidding.

But he really did, he bought three of them when he found a coupon for them. they were originally like $130, and he found a coupon for like $30 dollars off them, so he paid the same price as you. The reduced the price to $100 when the coupon ran out.

i didnt know he got the lumateks too. right on! im glad im not the only one.

i was wondering how long it would be before anyone noticed i changed your quote. :)

Just amazed

Just amazed

I'm just amazed at how fast this is developing into a system. You really are putting some good time into this. When done, would you please take a full photo of the tank, and one of the fuge so that we can see it all put together?

How much longer till the whole thing is done?

Do you have fish picked out yet or are you just doing a "switch" on the systems?

Will you be changing lighting?
