The color changing Emperor did not make it.

I found another small one local so I picked it up.

The new baby is doing well and cleaning other fish

Nice looking Tank! i have a 500 gallon tank being installed into my home on saturday, seeing yours just makes me even more excited

We the tank has been thru some hard times. I had many corals die and the emperors did not make it. It took me a few months to figure out the issue but it turned out to be high salinity. My calibration solution for my refractometer was bad. I had calibrated my refractometer with it and made adjustments to my tank salinity. Sadly the adjustments made the salinity move up to 1.031-1.032. The corals did not seem to like it and any new fish added did not work out. I have since fixed the salinity issue and added more angels.
So far everything is doing well.

Acrylic & MH

Acrylic & MH

Marinelife,

Love your tank selection of fish...so cool with the videos!..I love all the non safe reef fish. And they look really healthy. I see you switched from MH to led. Did you have any problems with MH damaging your acrylic top of the tank? Thinking about going acrylic, but I have MHs. I don't really like LEDs on most tanks, but they look good on yours. How hard would you say the scratch removal was, I mean can most anyone do it or does it require skills like say feathering drywall mud? Is it easy to remove scratches on the outside with novus 2? I am deciding between glass and acrylic mainly due to weight and the potential for leaks with glass vs easy scratches on acrylic and a small opening on top and of course there is price.

You got some mad reefing skills. Your tank could easily be a reef keeping TOTM for sure if it's not already!

Thanks for the kind words, I need to update this thread, I have made several changes. I did just change out my DIY LEDs to Mars Aqua LEDs. So for they are doing great!

For scratches the sanding kits are really easy to use. It comes with a great instruction sheet. Novus 2 works great but just depends on the depth of the scratches.
I love acrylic for larger tanks and would not take a second thought to do it again.

Alot has happened to this tank over the last few months.
I had a salinity issue that lasted several months before I figured out what was wrong.
I lost several corals and some fish.
I am currently in recovery mode with some cyano algae that will just not go away.
I purchased some new acropora frags and they are doing great.
I added 2 Juv Emperor Angels that are growing and getting fat.

I changed out my DYI LEDs for 6 Mars Aqua LEDs fixtures, they helped give me a cleaner look and more LEDs and colors of LEDs
These LEDs are working out great.

I also started using Two Little Fishies Remag in my CA Reactor but its to early to tell if its helping.

I ended up changing my light schedule. I had my blue lights on to long. I change all the lights to only be on for less than 4 hours. I will in time add more hours to the schedule but this has helped the cyano to die off or disappear.
3 day black out, phosphate remover, water changers, etc did nothing. only the light change helped

Time for an update.

My current fish load since the crash:

1 Yellow Belly Hippo Tang (March 2008)

1 Coral Beauty (May 2007)

1 Maculiceps Tang (February 11, 2014)

1 Yellow Coris Wrasse (December 13, 2013)

2 Yellow Pyramid Butterfly (August 21, 2014)

1 Juvenile Emperor Angel (January 3, 2017)

1 Cleaner Wrasse (June 8, 2017)

1 Orange Shoulder Tang (July 31, 2017)

1 Emperor Angel (August 18, 2017)

1 Yellow Tang (September 9, 2017)

Corals:
A few SPS frags, soft corals and a massive Blue Ridge that takes over the middle of the tank.

I have seen some growth from the SPS frags in the tank so I went and purchased 4 more frags but one was coated in AEFWs. So most of it got trashed.

Current flow system:

2 Tunze Stream 6105s with the Tunze 7096 Controller on the ends of the tank point toward the surface
Return pump is a Waveline Apex Ready DC10000II water pump
1 Closed loop system with an Abyzz A200 DC Pump.

1 Closed loop system with a Red Dragon 3 230w DC Pump

What is next:
I think the last fish I am going to add is a Blue Spine Unicorn Tang.

Get my SPS load high again. Planning on going to Reef Systems Coral in a few weeks and getting some more!!
