OK, so here is a little update, the tank is now running for almost 6 years

My biggest job is to remove corals or cut them down. I prefer to have fewer colonies in decent sizes, so I rather remove whole large pieces to provide room for others to grow. Of course, some pruning is still mandatory every now and them.

Just got home from a one-month trip to Indonesia. All the tank got was feeding, water top-off, skimmer and filter sock cleaning, twice weekly manual trace element dosing. Except for one file fish that went carpet surfing (found the only gap) and a drop in alkalinity (easily remedied) everything went well, absolu. Next weekend I will be busy with pruning some colonies.

I don't know how I found this thread (last post was months ago!) but thank you for sharing this. It's really impressive. I'm particularly impressed by how well lit the tank is, and there is still lots of stuff growing even on the bottom (35" deep!). I also like the aquascaping - I'm considering a wall like yours - and I'm shocked at how much stuff grew out.

Time for the annual update,
the tank runs pretty smoothly, the biggest hassle is pruning the corals. Except for a bad incident when adding geoffroy wrasses (first killed my Macropharyngodon cyanoguttatus group then each other...) all inhabitants are doing just fine.

yes this is a BTA (two actually, split last week), I always have one or a few in the tank. Yes they do sting a bit, but in that corner they cant't do much damage. If they move into a corner where I don't want them, I either remove them (if possible) or they will meet the syringe of doom (concentrated sodium hydroxide). My pride and joy is the blue carpet that is in my tank now for about 4 years, it's doing absolutely fine and I would like to keep it that way. So everything that grows too close to it will be removed.
