My new 420 tank

I got lucky on the location of the walls studs. The top of the stand is framed with 2x6's that are on 16 inch centers so the wall's framing and the stands framing are going to tie in really nice. I am at a stopping point for now. Gotta get some lumber so I can put a header in over the tank and start building the stand.

I just measured out the overflows on the tank and the total volume with the overflows is 507gallons.

Updates? I just updated the page yesterday. Here is todays update. I went ahead and made the stand pipes for the overflows. I took the picture looking through the front viewing side. (note the tank still has the water in it :) ) I drilled the four holes in the top bracing for the water returns too and will try and take some pictures of the fittings going through it before I leave today.

Here is a picture looking at the back of the tank. You can see the valves on the overflows and the tank drain valve at the bottom center of the tank.

The stand pipes are just basic Durso Stand Pipes (http://www.dursostandpipes.com/). They are 1 inch in diamater. No real measurements just a little lower than the bottom of the teeth on the overflow boxes. I have used these in the past and is the only way I do my overflows now. In the picture, they look a little funny because you are seeing a reflection off the top of the water.

whats the bottom bulkhead for on the back of tank?you going to be running a closed loop or is it for water changes?where do you plan on running your returns?everything is looking great so far.looks like i will be able to steal all your ideas!have you decided on your return pump yet?

No bulkheads in this tank. All the holes are tapped for standard pvc pipe fittings. The bottom fitting is a drain for the tank. I will use it for water changes or when even the tank needs to be drained. The returns are through the bracing on the top of the tank. Dont have any pictures of the holes, but will post some when I get the plumbing done .

I got the tap from a tooling store (dont remember which one right off hand). I cant remember what size it is either. I'm not much help right now. If I rember when I get home, I will check.

No progress to report. The tank still has water in just like the pictures above. Work is in full force until probabaly close to thanksgiving. I will have the occasional day at home, but those are pretty much taken up by the honey do list.

Looking good blfuller123. Nice progress since I last checked in. The hole in the drywall looks pretty big! :D
You are going to need a fair bit of lumber for the stand. Keep the pictures coming.
Do you know where you are going to get the LR? You are going to need a lot to look like you have any in that big of a tank. $$$$$ :)
Cant wait to come over some day and check it out when you are finished. :)

Hi, i hate to bring up an old thread, but can you tell me what seaming method you used to build this tank? Also what solvent if you wouldn't mind. Thanks in advance.

Blfuller sold me this tank a couple months ago along with his skimmer,pumps,etc....I'll be sure to post some pics once i get my basement ready ,installed in Blfullers honor of course :)
