honestly Goodwin, how much time is spent a week doing maintenance on all your tanks? Man it seems like more than a passion! That's an obsession!
Water changes, filter changes, & water testing takes about 4 to 5 hours per week. Acrylic tank cleaning another 2, (sure wish they were glass in this case). Feeding takes 1/2 hour to an hour each day. Along with the salt tanks, I still have 4 FW to take care of too. Lot of work, but a lot of enjoyment too!

Sounds like you've got the science of water changes down to an art! How do you do that many tanks that quickly?

wow very nice do all the tanks have seperate sumps. It looks like they do.Whats nice about having more than one tank if something goes wrong with the system you can place corlas and fish in another tank.Do you have any problems with nitrates?I spent so much time on one tank I don't know how you take care of that many.Do you have any time to go on vacation. If so who takes care of all the tanks when your away. Are those sand filters any good.I always wondered if they acted like a deep sand bed

You have to remember, I don't change water in all tanks each week. Most are done every other week, and two are on a 3 week cycle. The 150 foot hose will reach any tank in the house.

I hate to post this shot because the plumbing is such a mess, but the little sur-flow pump can either pump water from a tank, or pump water back to a tank by switching a few valves around.

Dang. You must have one of those 100-in-1 remotes to go along with all those valves, eh?

Actually, that looks like a great way to handle all your setups!

LOL, I do. Not sure if it is 100 in one, but I'll be darned if I haven't been able to find the water change & maintenance buttons on the remote. I see by this picture that I need to look for the furniture cleaning button tonight....

Do you handle your FW water changes with that setup as well as your salt tanks?
Yes I do, I have a 100 gallon RO holding tank I do water changes from for the fresh tanks. there are 2 55 gallon salt mixing tanks for salt changes.

Goodwin, after careful thought, I have figured out why you have so many tanks.... I think it has to do with your geographic location, LOL! Hey are most of your dry and livestock goods purchased from internet order? Is there LFS near you? You have to almost be the LFS, no? You have more tanks than my LFS. Just razzin you. All look super. Thanks for sharing. I love your thread! Back to completing that 600 gal. Do you have plans for something bigger in the future? I noticed a lot of available room down there in the basement? Also, are you married? MY wife had a fit over the cost of my 54 reef and I'm not even done yet. Wondering if you are married, we might need to arrange a wife-swap, just skip the frag swaps!

Things look really nice. I love the fish selection. I'm still surfing the pics on the build:) Nice job!

A few new fish arrived today. Thought that the picture might make a few people happy with the acclimation method being used. Much easier to drip acclimate a few at a time.

Sneak peak at one of the new arrivals.
