It was nice to meet you Marc and thanks for your thoughts on the questions I had. It certainly changed my mind on a couple things for setting up my tank:)

A few pictures

Here are a few pictures I took of Chuck's tank. I really was more focused on the tank(s) than I was on my photography. First, a FTS (Full tank shot)

WOW!

Just beautiful!

The five or so yellows is impressive and then you start counting the multiple sail fins and... and ... and ..., very nice :)

I am very interested to know more about the oil. Many things react with CO2 but if it doesn't that could solve my little nagging bubble counter evap problem.
Here is a short video of the bubble counter in action.

I checked in on your tank this morning in class, and wow! Its brighter looking, and so is the tank!

Yes, the first one protected a clam. I guess another clam is getting nipped.

Chuck will have to figure out which fish is doing this, or the clams will have to move.

I just stumbled across this thread so I'll have to go back through it, looks very cool.

Is there a live cam or something?

I have been using Glycerin in my bubble counter, not sure if the question had been answered.

I'm subscribed now, I'm getting a fresh coffee and going to the beginning.

600 seems cloudy this moring. Is that because of a water change? I don't get that when I do mine, so that's why I ask. Are you aging the water Chuck?

Thanks Chuck. It doesn't even say what the stuff is. Could be salad oil for all we know. Have you smelled it? Tasted it? How about giving it a little taste on camera??

MELEV.....now what do I Do?????

Reflector.jpg

You are both funny and FAST! That didn't take you long at all.

Here's an example of what I did over my tank, using aluminum and rivets (both obtainable at Home Depot):
7/30/2004 - Light Rack

7/31/2004 - Pocket door hardware modified for light rack

8/01/2004 - Lights move forward and back now

Further Details

In your case, if you don't make any type of rack to move them then they will suspend from a single screw (or filament wire) coming down from your ceiling. You can make it adjustable. The one thing to keep in mind is that the weight of the mogul socket with its cord may lean the reflector, so you'll have to support that wiring somehow.

I can't see the end of that white wire, but I'm sure it won't be hard to wire it to your current ballasts. If you need my help, post a picture of the ballast and its wires as well as the end of the white cord and I'll be happy to guide you through it.

Did the reflectors come with the glass shield? You absolutely MUST remove the protective film inside the reflector before you fire up a bulb or it will cook it to the metal.
