I considered adding one, but the puffer seems to eat everything, including an anemone that was in that side of the tank. Even the snails are at risk with the puffer.....Originally posted by matt & pam
If the snails don't help with the hair algea, you might consider a try with a sea hare (Dolabella sp, not aplysia). (assuming your fish won't bother it).
I wish that I knew what happened to the one that I had in the tank. It was a good four or five inches. There one day, and gone the next. Haven't had a chance to see if this little guy made it through the night. Last night I noticed that the Yellow Eye Kole was chasing it around the tank.Originally posted by cbui2
great updates Chuck. sorry to hear about the loss. the orange shoulder will grow very fast, purchase mine 1.5" 5 months ago and now over 6". i remember putting 120 of those guys in the beginning, but it was more work to clean after them rather then doing it myself. not only that they were like rhino knocking and running over everything in its path. nassarius and cerith are great cleaner and don't make too much of a mess. they buried in the sand during the day and at night complete lights out will rise from the sand and clean the sand bed up very good.

There isn't a lot in the specimen tank for the snails to move around. A couple of large rocks and one leather coral. Hopefully they can knock down some of this HA as it is clogging up my filters requiring them to be changed much more often.
Now it means that I have to post more pictures to keep things interesting...what's a thread without the pictures???Originally posted by tangdiver
A double split.
I had the camera ready last night when I was feeding to try and take some more but they didn't turn out very good, so will try again today. Seems the Kole was keeping him moving faster than I could shoot.Originally posted by Cougarman
I had a similar thing with my lieutenant tang. Had him for 4 years, then a couple weeks ago I was driving in my car and I thought, I haven't seen that fish for a while. When I checked the tank I could not find him, havent seen him since. No body, nothing. Sucks. One of my favourite fish.
Goodwin9 do you have anymore pics of that little orange shoulder?

I don't think mine has that feature, or at least Ii haven't found how to use it. I did check the tank and the little guy is hiding back in the corner by the over flows...Originally posted by Cougarman
I have this rapid fire feature on my camera. The quality of the images are not as good, but it seems to capture the fish in motion without any blur. I take a sequence of pics, then choose the best and delete the rest. Does yours have any feature like this?

So is the puffer and/or the trigger munching on those snails?
I think that they have both gotten their fair share. There are a number of empty shells in both tanks. It sees that the remaining snails have taken to the rocks for some protection and I am afraid that they haven't done much in the way of cleaning the sides of the tank in the specimen tank. I'm pretty sure a sea hare would be lunch if I were to put one in the tank, so will try and syphon and clean up the tank manually tomorrow.Originally posted by melev
Out of curiousity, I'm asking again...
