My new 600 gallon reef

Does holding it in front of a powerhead actually work? I've tried it before and the fish died five minutes later. I assumed the stress of being held was what put him over the edge...

Yikes!

Yes! Get some vitamin soaked food in that guy as soon as he'll take it and good luck!

Considering what he's been through already, he looks pretty good!? The rich tank is a perfect resting place!

The new guy seems to be doing better, at least it isn't breathing as hard. Of course it has moved to the corner of the tank that hasn't been cleaned in a while.

Looking good Chuck. The powerhead thing is a last resort. Not always going to work, but sometimes flushing water through the gills will sort of jump-start the fish. It can work, but there's no guarantee of course.

The fish actually placed itself in two different areas of the tank that has the highest rate of flow. Not facing the returns directly, the flow was bouncing off the side of the tank hitting the fish head on...if that make sense.

Tried feeding tonight to see what happens. All food was soaked in Selcon & Garlic Extreme.

Frozen brine shrimp...Not Interested
Frozen Mysis....Not Interested
Frozen Plankton...BINGO..chased and ate what it could catch in it's corner

That's really promising. Let's hope the fish will be happy in that tank, and seed the ricordea with all kinds of ... ahem.... food for want of a better term. ;)

very positive Chuck. Keep it up!
I feel much better tonight than I did at 9:30 this morning. I thought that I might mention that Live Aquaria had called me yesterday afternoon and told me that there had been delays with mine and 26 other shipments that were schedulled to be delivered yesterday. They told me to accept delivery and double to acclimation time, which I did. They told me that if there was any problems with the fish, to give them a call. They told me that there were working with FedEx to get the package delivered as early as possible today. First Class operation IMO.

This fish is a little over 6". I'm surprised that the "Tang Police" haven't jumped on me for putting it in a 40 gallon tank..... It might be interesting to see what happens with the ricordeas if the fish does make it.

It sounds promissing for the tang Chuck!

The rics should love a little tang poo! Who doesn't!?!?!?

Just to mention this shipping thing, we are having some issues with our shipments as well. Overnight guarantees go out the window during the holidays, and I would refrain from ordering any livestock until after the holidays.

I sent an overnight package out on Monday, turns out the carrier "sub-contracted it (means dropped off) with the post office, which is not delivering to the customer's area due to inclement weather. Should have shipped it with UPS. Brown is the only one that seems to be doing well this year in terms of delivering on time.

making a bed??

Who knows  Maybe it doesn't like all of the color and is a little confused.....

wow awsome tanks!! anyone used that mighty pad thing? i have bad green algae, i might have to get that thing.. also, how did you get your rics to multiply like that? did you feed them something specific? does one target feed ricordias?

Glad the new tang is doing better. I think you did the right thing by putting him into the ric tank to let him recover. He would have gotten mauled in your big tank in his weakened condition.

He'll probably be ready to move to the big tank before you know it.
