My new 600 gallon reef

I remember seeing this tank shortly after it was up and running and it was a sight to see then. I can't imagine now with all the growth and new additions since then!!

Will do. Your collection of tanks is better then any local aquarium! :D

Just wondering if any might have an idea of what this black looking thing might be that is growing in the coral frag tank. I noticed it the other day and thought that it was an old SPS coral but since it has been getting larger and getting more branches. It is soft and pliable and almost has a rubber like feel. I am stumped???

Just got more of the same...I called them to get some critters to replenish my cleanup crew and they made me a deal I couldn't pass up on 80+ ricordeas. I am a sucker for good deals...

While I am on the subject of what is it? I thought that I would post a picture of a crab that I don't recognize that I have spotted in the tank. Does anyone have any idea whether or not this crab is OK to leave in the tank??

6" ruler? They are all still babies Chuck. Love that rabbit.
With the exception of the Vlamingi, I think that the rabbit fish has been the fastest growing fish in the tank....

My rabbit grew quick too. My Naso annulatus has been my fastest grower, and is still growing.

If it were mine, I'd probably add 3 or 4 more, but seriously, if you were to add one more, you might consider a scopas. I have one in each of my three bigger tanks and in each tank, the scopas has remained fairly small in comparison to the growth of some of the other tangs. They don't bother any of the other fish in my tanks and get along with all of the other tangs.

Thanks Chuck. Yea i would love to add 3 or 4 more. I love tangs. But i dont know if i could do it because of space. But is there any other recommendations then the scopas. I mean i love the scopas dont get me wrong. But i just want to see your other opinions if you have any.

My purple tang hasn't grown as fast as some of the other tangs and has remained fairly small. Any small tang would proably be alright to start, but then the question what do you do when it gets larger? I looked at a 75 gallon tank that had 10 very small Blue Hippos in it that looked really neat, I just have to wonder what will happen as they grow in size?

Crab looks fine, no big deal. As for the stuff in the frag tank....I would say a macro algea. Sponges normally do not feel rubbery, IMO. If not rubbery then sponge. Will check it out next time I see ya.

Grant

Did you get my last 2 emails?

Yea i agree with you Goodwin. I dont think i would go with the purple right know because they are so expensive. But i might consider the Hippo tang. Thanks for all the help chuck

Hippos are fairly good together....I have a friend that has 3 large ones 7"+ and all ok together......but they started small together.

Just my thoughts
