My new 600 gallon reef

I wonder if those kids really understand the committment it took to build and house all those tanks.

jnarowe - Please know that while the camera caught us at a light-hearted moment we took that job very seriously. There were five members from our local aquarium club that moved that tank and it will likely take more of us to help with the relocation of the rest of the tanks. We are all dedicated saltwater enthusiasts, who have enjoyed spending time with Chuck and his amazing aquariums for years.

And you're right, knowing how much time, effort and money my own 270 gallon tank has taken over the last 5 years, I'm amazed that Chuck has been able to keep all of his going without going broke or crazy.

I can only speak for myself although I expect the others would agree. It's extremely hard to see Chuck's tanks come down but it helps to know that we can help be part of the remarkable gift he's giving to our community that will allow thousands of people to enjoy what he's worked so hard to put together.

ps: Appreciate the "kids" part.......it's been 20 years since I was called that!!

A group of volunteers from one of the banks in town began the task of painting the exhibit & supports area.

i worked for a guy and we painted a floor. (this was before epoxy paints were popular) and when we rolled the floor, we used a thick roller and we grabbed some regular and black sand and threw it on the wet floor. it looked sweet!. we threw a lot in some areas, and it looked like a beach front.

this just reminds me of those days.......

I love watching this by the way!

That looks great Chuck!
I was in the butterfly house at the Bronx Zoo this weekend and thinking of your generous gift to this butterfly display. They are really stepping up to support it.
It is an awesome effort!!!
