My new anemone

Iv been keeping my eye on this anemone as its been at the fish store for over a month so I decided to get it. It looks very healthy and is very sticky also and its mouth isnt gapping. I know these are hard to keep but iv read if they are healthy to begin with its much easier. The base it brown where the tentacles are purple with whitish tips. You cant really see the purple in the pics but it is.

If anyone has any that they have and would like to give some info about flow lighting etc..that would be nice also

It require reasonably high flow, enough to move the tentacles back and fore. Really need high light. It will move around to get what it need. Best to put it on top of a pedestal right under a MH so that if it move away from the spot, it will get less light and flow.

Beautiful nems! Mine is on a big rock that is directly under my 14000K halide. I turned my powerhead off to allow the anemone to settle but when i turned it back on my anemone didnt look to happy. Its a rio 800 so i turned it off again and now its fully open again. But i read they like flow so im not sure what to do

You really don't want PH blow directly at it, but two power head meet right above it would be best

I have one for 9 years under VHO's. In the beginning moved around allot, even ended up in a powerhead, but recovered. After that I put it on a pedestal rock almost reaching out of the water in the old tank. Mine doesn't like to much waterflow, even all the books say they do. It has enough flow for the tentacles to sway. Over the years spit a couple of times. Now in the new tank, is still on the same rock, but I couldn't get it as high anymore, because this tank is deeper and I was worried the rock would fall. Thinking about switching to T5's soon. Your's looks huge. Good luck with it.

9 years wow good job keeping it that long! Mine attached within minutes of being in the tank and havent moved since its on a big piece of liverock. Im very happy with it and all i did was trade some xenia in order to get it!

That sounds like a good trade to me. I guess, I was just lucky to get a healthy one. But I have to say, I feed my tank allot, put trace elements in and probably don't have such clear water like other people here. It get's 1 1/2 shrimps per week. Maybe that's what makes my anemone happy...
