My new blue S. Haddoni!!!!

This is what mine looks like now, as you can see Mouth is 100% tightly closed, can barely even see, so i know what todd's talking bout when he says barely being able to see the mouth :P

We have a successful bonding of haddoni and tank raised clowns! They love him.

My only concern is that the haddoni might not make it... I hope it does... His mouth is open a lot more now than yesterday.. He also shrank a lil and testicles aren't as open as yesterday too.. I hope this is just shipping stress and he will slowly get stronger.

Hmmm... I've never seen a Anemone's testicles. :P

Todd, did something happen to your red haddoni?

Yeah, I was stupid. Picked up a purple S. Haddoni, it started to look "off", ended up moving it to another tank with a different Haddoni (( my tan one that I had had for 12+ years )). Long story short, the purple one had some sort of infection, took out all 3.

Dang, that sucks... :( I've always wanted a red and a blue... We'll see how I do with this blue before I get a red...

Mine hasn't gone through a deflation/inflation cycle, but its mouth has stayed a little bit open consistently...

It was awful, and about 3 months prior to that I lost my blue one when I tried some "bio-active" salt. :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

For those that have lost haddonis, how long is the death cycle? How long did it take to die. Im trying to figure out if mine is a goner or if its just doing weird stuff..

A couple of days to a couple of weeks. Usually IME(unfortunately) the expanding and contracting starts speeding up until the anemone no long expands anymore. Either way that blue one is too expensive to throw out before it is truly dead.

I definitely dont want to just toss him.. Trying to figure out if he's a goner or not! Today, his mouth was tightly closed for about an hour.. I thought things were going to be good... but later today his stomach protruded again... and then there's that 14 day warantee from Diver'sDen.

Not counting the ones I mentioned above -- they were established and didn't die from being shipped.

For the couple that I lost shortly after shipping, they lasted about a week to 10 days.

An example, (( and skipping some pictures )) over a week, give or take a day or two.

When I first received it,

Look at my final pic in the post above -- when/if your actually dies, you will know.

Like I said earlier, I had a red one go through this cycle for months (too many pics to post). I kept LA updated for the first few days but that 2 weeks flew by. When my anemone finally died I was SOL on my $700 guarantee. LA asked that I should have kept them more updated.

I would send them daily emails, I might even pull the trigger at the 13 day mark if I had a do-over (it was for surr in the "death cycle". I know it was no fault of mine that the anemone died. I have since acquired a slew of antibiotics for my next red haddoni..

WOW !!!

that really stinks.

I have been keeping carpets for as long as i have reef tank and it's almost been 2 decades now and i been up and down that road. Right now i have what i have and feel content with what i have. I saw 2 nice carpets on a website from a guy i know very well, one blue and one pruple for a price that is unseen before but i opt not to get my hands on those especially the purple one looks fantastic. for 2 reasons: 1) i dont want to go through another ordeal of constant ups and downs for days and weeks worrying about the condition of the new animal. 2) things are not broken and i am content with what i have so i can't be greedy and ask for more as i risk losing it all.

Recently a local reefer offer a super bright green haddoni for $75 and it has been in captive for years, once again i passed up the opportunity becuase like i said above. It actually agitate me and annoy me for not getting those anemones, but i know in the short/long run i will be happier by not taking a chance. :-)

Everytime we add a living animal into our tank we risk adding unwanted parasite or illness and all that......... and of course i know you knew all that but i am just saying it here for those that are new.

I'm new and thank you for sharing that. anything I can read from other's reefers experience is extremely helpful and very valuable. when i first started out i didn't know who to ask and where to go for answers, which resulted in really horrible endings for my fishes and one of my anemones.

I've been keeping LA updated through email but they've only sent me one response the first time I emailed them on day #2:

Thank you for your email. This item has a 14 warranty and we have noted your customer file. Please continue to monitor the item and notify us of any changes..

Guess we'll see what happens. I have 6 more days from today.

Keep sending emails, save your documentation. Take lots of pictures. If the anemone isn't steady at day 12 or 13 and eating, I would be honest with them and say it's not lookin good. They will likely extend your guarantee.. After this continue to send progress emails and take pics, you are not outa the woods by any means.

The people at LA are great and will work with you. I am just sharing my experience on a $700 loss. These are the things I would do differently. Hth

I got my money refunded on a sick gig 2 years ago from LA by just keeping them updated every single day. I was nearing 25 days or so with it, until it finally detached and died. I just called them around day 10 and told them about the problems I was having and they complied right away with solutions and refunded me eventually.
