My new blue S. Haddoni!!!!

I got my money refunded on a sick gig 2 years ago from LA by just keeping them updated every single day. I was nearing 25 days or so with it, until it finally detached and died. I just called them around day 10 and told them about the problems I was having and they complied right away with solutions and refunded me eventually.

Good advice... I've never had a problem with LA honoring refunds... That is why I never hesitate to buy something I want from them even though it may be a little bit more spendy than some of the other people I buy from... I don't even want to think about how much I've spent with them over the years... :mixed:

Yeah, I was stupid. Picked up a purple S. Haddoni, it started to look "off", ended up moving it to another tank with a different Haddoni (( my tan one that I had had for 12+ years )). Long story short, the purple one had some sort of infection, took out all 3.

Not to try and derail this thread but I am so sorry to hear about your red haddoni Todd. Also very sorry to hear about the OP's bad luck.

I tested his tentacles ... they're very sticky. Is that a good sign even though the stomach protrudes at times?

Bad news... the haddoni was inside out and oozing.. pretty much game over. I put him away and the clowns are really confused and sad right now.

I'm going to look for a replacement locally so that the shipping stress isn't a factor for the time being.

Bad news...
I've been subscribed and quietly following this. I'm really sorry for this bad news. For a while it was looking like there was hope. Sorry pal. Bummer.

Because I'd like a haddoni someday myself, and for the benefit of the community that might learn from this I'd like to ask, "What went wrong?"

I assume the clowns were better kept away until it acclimated. But I'm hard pressed to believe that killed it. So was it the shipping? I find that a little hard to believe too... as it was shipped to the vendor from where ever it was gathered. And probably not as quickly, or as well, and it survived that.

Or could it be that it's been dying since it was harvested, and poor 125mph just got to witness its final days? If anyone's got good insight into what caused this, I'd love to know.

125mph - again, sorry this happened. Glad you got a refund anyway.

ct_vol, how does yours look, any updated pics?

125mph, if you have any pics of the death progression I think it would be good for educational purposes to include them in your thread.

125, I will check on your pm and tell you the 411 on your question! Sorry to hear the bad news, but did your blue haddoni "smoke" (stress spawning) alot?? The one's I have had that exhibited this, never made it. I was just really curious if your nem was doing the same thing. Did the shipping water have any smell?

I'm certain it was the shipping now... I just picked up a red haddoni from LFS 2 hrs away.. Drove him home and he is in WAY better condition then the one I received from LA. The red one's foot is long and visible while the blue one was just a blob. The red one was extremely sticky and hard to put in the tank cause he wouldn't let go. The blue one was not sticky at all when I put him in the tank.

No updated pics... After my last post the Haddoni took a devastating turn for the worse... I have done water changes and have been running carbon, but at this point it is hopeless... :(

Wow that sucks.. What happen? Is he inverted like mine was? I guess thats two blue haddonis from LA gone for the worse in the same week...

Yeah, it became inverted... I have a couple of pics that I will post in the next few days... This is the first time I have ever had LA question me... They told me that it wasn't yet dead... I took another pic today of it decomposing in my tank right before I removed it... I am not willing to risk losing the rest of my system over it...

I believe each time an animal is shipped, he has a chance to die due to shipping conditions and acclimation issues. There are probably many haddonis that survive the shipping from the Indian Ocean to LA, and many that do not survive. Of the ones that make it, some will make it into the aquarium and some will die too. Just because he survives being shipped once doesn't mean he'll survive again.

That's probably why LA quarantines the anemones for 1+ months; to bring it back to full health which gives it the best survival chances for the next shipping.

Wow, LA is 0/2 on these beautiful carpet!
I would be very upset as well if I'm the seller!

Yeah... It will be a while before I attempt another Carpet... I'll likely try and find one at an LFS next time... I'll just stick to RBTA's from now till then...

I think you could be fine with a LFS carpet. BTW, did they give you your refund?

Strange the didnt question mine.. but I did update them over many days with pics. From day 2 I had pics of him being inverted.
