My new Camera

Take a look at my new acquisition, Nikon D90 18-105 VR Kit with some of addons, 16Gb SDHC memory card, filter lenses, bag, tripod, etc.
Of course I have yet to know what focus, aperture, depth of field, ISO, etc., mean to really take advantage of this camera; well I know what those terms mean, I just don't know how to use them while taking pictures, how to fine tune most of these to take an specific picture. Anyway I'll start taking some photography classes and workshops in March and hopefully my skills will improve.
I wish some day my pictures will look like some I've seen here.

Later I'll buy a couple of more lenses, I'd like at least have a macro lens to take close ups of my corals.

Here's the Camera kit:

and here are some sample photos I took :

Don't ask me what settings I was using, 'cause I don't know, these pictures were taken by manual focusing and putting my hands on the glass to avoid movement (no tripod), and of course no other lens other than the one (18-105 VR) that came with the camera kit.

Hope you like it as much as me.

Nice camera! Good full tank shot.

A few suggestions for the macros - put that sweet camera on the tripod I see you got there. Use either a remote shutter release (not seeing one in your picture) or 2 second timer to eliminate blurring due to button press / release. Turn off your pumps and use a slower shutterspeed than you would use handholding. You should then be able to stop down (use a higher fstop number) for greater depth of field.

Lovely acan!

Thanks Reef Bass,

yes those are the things I have to learn, I can't wait for the course to start, I'm not going to be a professional, but at least want to take good pictures.
I'll try the timer to avoid pressing the shutter, thanks again.

Your FTS looks really nice, good and crisp. Wow, your back glass is very clean, how do you do that :)

I agree with the above guys, definitely use a tripod for close up work and the timer if you can, that will make a world of difference in your shots.

This tank is only about one year old, upgraded from my 75g, so it is fairly new, I don't do anything to keep it clean, but the tank's parameters are always good, especially Nitrates and phosphates, plus the snails are always working, the coraline is attached only to the rocks and overflow for now.
