My new carpet

Saltwaternooby

SPS junkie
I got this guy from a local store, it was QT by a reputable local hobbyist for 4 weeks before i got it. All i can say is i am in love with this one, I have had haddonis before, but i am not sure if this one is.

Enjoy

It may not be a Haddoni. I think I can see or immagin some blue verucae on the exposed skirt. A clear picture of the skirt or the column would ID it for sure

Still looks like haddoni to me. Verrucae are rather faint and appear to be the same color as the column. Also, gig verrucae typically extend further down the column. Lastly, it appears that it has nearly completely burried in the sand from that photo - is that correct? If so, then it is definitely haddoni.

After seeing the last pic that the OP has posted, I agree with OrionN. You carpet has a blue foot also. Looks like a GIG to me but I may be wrong. What ever it is, its a great specimen. Good Luck!

Yes Verrucae are darker than the column but not blue that I can see. Foot was part sand part rock last I was able to see.

Either way I love its color/size also.

Blue foot and blue verucae, most tentacles are pointed. Ocellaris jump right in without hesitation.
That carpet is a Gigantea or at least part Gigantea.
I would not be surprise if his tentacles lenthen over the next few months an will have classic look of Gigantea.
Very nice. Best of luck

It was sold to me as a Gig, the local expert said it was also. Those clowns took 10 sec to dive in, i will post more photos as it progesses.

Thanks Mihn

Still not sold. Who said the foot and verrucae are blue? Maybe I'm color blind but that's not what I see in the picture.

Looking real good.

Can you take a video? Set a camera on something and record a minute or two of video?

Curious how it is acting in the flow.

This is 100% Gigantea. When they are new to a tank, whether a fish store or home aquarium, many gigs tend to have very short tentacles. That makes them look very much like Haddonis. Trust me, there were a few times when I looked at anemones and was 100% positive they were Haddonis. Then a few days after it becomes clear they are gigs as their tentacles get longer.
