My new Diver's Den red Haddoni

Subscribed. What do you plan on feeding it?

i think he feeds thawed krill, from another thread that i read.

hey todd wats the light requirements to keep one of these? would they be healthy under 4 bulb 24watt T5?

That is correct, I do use krill, about once every 3-4 weeks. I used to use silversides, but won't any more. While I don't have any proof, I suspect that using them was the cause of me losing an H. malu about 2 years ago. The anemone was doing great, fed it a silverside and the next morning it was dead.

The only T5's I have used are for supplemental, so not too sure. But, what size tank, and do they have individual reflectors?

Beautiful.

I think so too.

I think Todd hve more experience with Carpet than almost anyone of us here. I am sure he will know what to do it it look like the clown is bothering the carpet. This is not to say that an expert cannot kill a anemone.
Great carpet and a beautiful clown. Almost as beautiful as my clown :-)

Thanks for the kinds words Minh.

That is a stunning nem! Can't wait to see it settled in and expanded.

Thanks a lot. It is a bit more open tonight -- pics to come.

Here are some pictures from tonight, it is about twice as big tonight -- more open. Still can't see the mouth, but from what I can see, it appears to be closed. BTW -- I am running 2*250 MH (( 20,000K XMs )) and 4*54 T5's - 2 Gman actinics and two KZ figis.

And lastly a FTS, can see the egg create/window screening over the side of the tank that has the new Haddoni.

Todd,
I only one Saddle-back. You don't have a pair of these buys? I almost always keep clowns in pair.

I think he said in an earlier post that the mate died a few weeks before. I'm sure he's planning to replace it soon.

Hellos wonderful pics sorry but what does this do?

It's to acclimate the anemone to the new lighting in Todd's tank.

I don't know how I missed this! That is such a beautiful haddoni Todd. I love the color!

Lookin' good! :D

And I'm glad to see you have a background on your tank. It always aggravates me to see a nice aquascape, beautiful fish and inverts--and then a wall and a bunch of wires behind them. Spoils the whole effect, IMO. :p

When you get your remaining saddleback a new mate, are you planning on getting a tiny one?

That is correct.

Basically, she was a little crazy from the get go. But, one day I was cleaning the tank and she was frightened and dove into a Haddoni (( recently sold to a local reefer )). The problem being she was in the mouth for over 5 minutes. Came out and her head was damaged and ended up losing an eye. She wasn't the same after that. 2 weeks later couldn't find her.

"Sugar Magnolia" got it right, don't want to stress out the anemone any more then it already is. Think of the screening as sun screen that you put on when going out in the sun.

Thanks a lot. I could never had a tank without a background. And I do my best to keep the background free of coralline algae too.

Unless I find a female this weekend (( not planning on it, just saying )), I will end up trying to find a small one. I figure by the time I find one the existing one will have either changed or started to change to female. Plus, I figure if it is still male, it would be fine with another male until it shifted.

He'd probably appreciate the opportunity to be in charge. :p

juniorjose, carpets get big. A 29G will be too small for a carpet anemone, and you definitely don't have strong enough lighting for one. If you really have your heart set on an anemone, you could try a cloned BTA, which some people have kept successfully in small tanks. You'll have to make sure your tank is ready (water parameters, lighting, tankmates, etc) and practice careful maintenance. Good luck!

No offense, not going to kiss your *** but tell it to you straight, your tank looks like crap for that Red haddoni, looks like a hot girl in a 91 civic.

The egg crate/ window screening is used to reduce the light getting to the anemone, and will be removed over time to acclimate the anemone to the lights in Todd's system.

It is basically there to keep the anemone from bleaching from too much light, and give it time to settle in to Todd's tank.
