My gf has wanted one of these for a while, but I refused to pay the LFS $250 for one of these little guys, even though they are amazing looking fish.

They have always been one of my favorite fish, except their price. When i got mine it was at cost so I was ok with the price. Make sure to cover your tank well, that is how I lost mine. Congrats

That specific species of firefish is pretty rare, isn't it? Heck of fish. really great coloring.

How deep of a deep water fish are they?

Roughly 25-70 meters according to Fishbase...not a shallow water fish in nature.
