Trim Installed!!!

Trim Installed!!!

I finally picked out and have installed the trim. I got my ideas from just looking at what other people have done and changed a few things, this was my first time dealing w/ crown moulding (the stuff is the devil) anyway here are a few pics, pardon the brown algae, the tank is going through that ugly stage for a few days, I'm putting more snails in tommorow. Also another positive note, being that the tank is in the garage w/ no cooling/heat, being that the sump is in the basement w/ a small fan it is staying firm at 78, but I'm loosing somewhere around 5 gallons of water a day. ATO coming VERY SOON!

Glad to see you got the hang of that crown moulding!! I can see a phone call coming your way in the near future!!!! Looks great!!

JIM!!!!!! What were you thinking?????? An innocent child's buttock is being displayed for all to see, once she is older you won't want her posing for net pics....... I need to talk to your wife about this one! You are in the doghouse and don't know it.

Excellent job Jim
The next time you have trouble with crown molding call me.

maimasmai Jim posted the picture but Moma took the picture. Looks like she'll be a hell of a carpenter :D

Thanks Dave, I just wanted to figure out the crown on my own. I am dealing with that friggin brown algae still, it seems to be peaking now. I added 35-40 snails, some nassarius snails, about 30. They should help. My livestock list so far for fish: 2 false perks, 1 maroon, 1 royal gramma, 7 green cromis, 3 bangaii cardinals, 1 mandarin goby, 2 pajama cardinals, 1 longnose hawkfish.
Corals so far: Various monti caps, golden scroll, purple catspaw, pavona, hairy acro, blue tort, ora tricolor, cynarina, pagoda cup, red green brain, candy corals, frogspawn, spaghetti leather, jewel coral, moon coral, short tentacle plates, acanthastria, red sea xenia, oxypora lacera, and a blue green crocea clam. MANY more to come.... and I added a moonlight array tonight also.

Hey Jim if you like anything rare for that tank let me know, we'll set you up, remember your special reef buddy rate applies :)

ALL BROWN ALGAE GONE!!! More fish added.....3 Tri color anthias, twinspot goby, blue tang, flame angel, solorensis fairy wrasse, tommorow a scotts fairy wrasse and a purple tang. More corals also...ORA tricolor, delicate staghorn, and a german blue stag along w/ a blue maxima clam and a golden maxima. I will have my diy auto top off installed soon (Thanks Bryan and empty your pm box) I am installing a 100 gallon rubbermaid tub beside my sump for top off water using a float valve hooked to my water supply to keep the tub full, this tub will also double as my water mixing vat for water changes it will enable me to make approximately 30% water changes by adding salt when needed. For the water changes I will be adding a tee to my return line above my pump w/ a valve system that will pump the water to my floor drain for easy changes. More pics soon!

I'll get some sump shots friday or saturday.

Jim that wrasse is awesome and I see you FINALLY got a sailfin tang ;)
It goes without saying your tank is looking fabulous.

I FINALLY got a 100 gallon tub before Tractor supply sold out again, and with it I now have my ATO hooked up and working. I have some more pics of the holding tank/mixing tub and I did my first water change with it tonight, I made it as easy as possible, but soon it will be much easier. Now I am simply switching off my main pump, skimmer and ATO and shutting off the water supply to the float valve that tops off the freshwater tub, then draining out 100 gallons w/ a siphon from the sump but soon I will be putting a tee at the top of my return line w/ a valve above it, when the valve is closed it will divert the water from the tank to a floor drain to my marked line on my sump. Then I will add x amount of salt to my 100 gallon tub and mix it to specs and plug in the ATO, it fills my sump back to the normal operating level and I'm done! Check out the clean look of the ATO Lee_bay built for me, it kicks butt, he even put in led's to show at a glance if all is good, thanks again Bryan!

I'll post some more tank pics soon, the tank was still kinda cloudy from the change tonight, I have some hopefully killer acros coming to go in next week.

I am setting up a 125g in my livingroom, with a 150g rubbermaid stock tank like you did. Here is my question,....? Did you baffle the rubbermaid in any way? Just looking for ideas. Thanks.

Jason

No, I thought I would have to but the shear size of the tub acts as a baffle, with the return pump plumbed into the bottom of the tub, the bubbles rise out of the water before they can be sucked into the pump. It works great.

oh, I see... I didnt mean baffle to stop air,... I was more concerned with a drain from the main display getting plugged, and pumping 150g of water on to my floor....? I am also thinking of running a sequence barracuda for my return (about 12 ft)... how does this sound? Thanks... Just trying to get all my ducks in a row for the new system..
